These two tracks have often been cited as favorite tracks from Big Generator. Which one do you like better?

That's a difficult choice. I'd have to say Final Eyes. I think it's quite beautiful in every aspect...the guitars, the vocals...

Well....It was a tough one for me as well, but I wen't with "Final Eyes" by a Trevor Rabin high "E" string....

I can't vote! You may have finally stumped me. I'll check back in if I ever make up my mind. :WH:

No contest. After all, I started a whole thread just for "I'm Running." One of my all time favorites. Final Eyes is a good song, but I'm Running is awesome.

Okay, I'm going with Final Eyes. But not forever!

Wow I'm surprised....I thought I'm Running had a lot more support....
"I'm Running" is certainly the more progressive tune (probably second only to "Miracle of Life" and "Endless Dream" in the Rabin Era), but for me, "Final Eyes" has always been the And You and I of the YesWest canon ... a beautiful melody and a signature arrangement ...

Excellent comparison Q, I never thought of it like that before, but it makes sense.

I think these are the best two songs on BG. As much as I like I'm Running, I think Final Eyes has a more dramatic impact and is punched up in just the right places.

Someone on here (I forget who it was, sorry) once said that Rabin said he "took the easy way out" by putting those power chords near the end, but that is one of my favorite parts of the song. Excellent point R'tanys.

I'm Running personally appeals to me more as I like the dark, mysterious quality to the start of each of the verses. Final Eyes seems to have more of a positive energy whereas I like things a bit bleaker.

Exactly my feelings about those two songs. By the way I allready suggested in another thread that on an upcoming tour it would be so great if Jon and Chris would do the first 1 1/2 minute of Final Eyes accapella and from that on go into AYAI. I think it will sound awsome!!

I'm Final Eyes too:
"Like a river without a stream,
Nighttime without dreaming"
just speaks volumes too, to  ME.
I vote for I'm running. It's always been my favourite from that album right from the start.

I'm the second one to agree with everything he said in his post. Final Eyes it is for me. Couldn't have said it better.
And I've read that Trevor isn't quite happy with the final version of that song. Wonder what it would have sounded like if he ouldn have gotten his way!

Thought...I have an mp3 of an earlier version of Final Eyes, with Rabin singing lead, with different lyrics!

And to your opinion, is it a better version or not? Come on, tell us more about it!!

I don't think many Troopers would like it. It's not so, ummm, flowery. A bit more straight forward, perhaps. When I get the money to put my webpage back up, I can put it up, so you can judge for yourself.

Hey, I wouldn't mind having that--where did you find it?

I don't recall if I found the mp3 on winmx or audio gnome. WinMx rocks though, you may want to try there.
