Hi gang...it sure has been a while! Between being so busy with work this past summer and last month's family crisis, I haven't been getting around the Net as much as I used to. Hopefully now I can start getting acquainted with all the good "Yes peeps," hehe.

In the interim, I've been working on material for a new EP I hope to have out by the end of the year. I don't know whether the batch of songs now in the works will appeal to Yes fans as much as the previous CD's material...I've finally given in to my long-running fascination with techno/electronica and decided to delve into it a bit (don't worry, there's still plenty of busy live bass playing and I like to think I'm singing better than ever). "Ryan's Last Drive," a sample of which I just posted, is an especially personal song for me that took a fair amount of daring on my part to record. Hope you guys can find a few minutes to stop by for a listen. :)

it is so good to see you are going full steam with the music..
glenn and i listened to your last cd all the way home from chicago, as a matter of fact..

he is a college student so some of the tunes really made him think. he liked your words and ideas very much.. and the music is not too shabby, either! it's really GREAT!!

while you were busy, i have been seeing more and more michigan fans showing up here, SO

when ya get that band together, let us know..
you will have your own groupie section, but we will all be wearing yesshirts..[unless YOU have a 'rational punk' shirt for sale by then!;) ]

LOL...I could use a good "groupie section;" I've never actually been a "frontman" before, I've always just been a keyboardist and/or bassist on the sidelines, so I'm sure I'll be nervous as all heck the first gig or two. :boom:

It'd be great to see a bunch of Yes t-shirts out there, but I do plan on having some RP shirts available as soon as possible once I finally start gigging.

[unless it's during a blizzard]

i hear ya about the 'front man' nerves!! oh yeah!

cant WAIT to see ya live and for real in person, too!
when you get your band up and running, and are ready to record, let me know that, too!

Rational Punk...tried to download Ryan's Drive and hit a glitch
Hmmm...that's weird. I went to the site to check and it downloaded ok for me...must have just been one of those strange things that happens every now and again (I know I used to get frustrated when I was on dialup and I'd set it to download a large file overnight only to find the next morning that the connection had timed out or something before it could finish).

As far as the latest, right now just for fun I'm recording my own version of Rush's "The Big Money." If I like the way it turns out, it's always possible I might put it on the next CD as sort of a bonus track. It's been years and years since I recorded a cover of anything, so it's just a little fun self indulgence.;)

rational punks stuff is incredible!!
we listened to 'immovable mover' disc all the way home from the chicago party, but THIS new material is really really ambitious-has even more fervor than the last songs on the immovable mover cd!!

the ending of 'ryan's last drive' resonates long after the last note is gone, believe me!! wow!! and i DON'T mean just the 'song', either! it would certainly make you THINK a bit deeper..as all intelligent yesfans do! :D
AMAZING!

'so naked now' is also a real shaker of a tune!!
and when he starts ripping off the clothes in the song, i had to look around! it sounded like he was right here next to me!! lol!
[and if my statement above doesnt make some people listen, i dont know what will, right dave? ;) lol!]

"some say that faces unshielded is indecent
let them wear thier disguise
you'd rather fill your screen with my whole butt
than have to look in my eyes"

man! i want to hear it ALL! the whole song!! whoohoo!!
right on, punk!
[sorry if i didnt get the lyrics not exact-it's what i heard..]

'turn it off".. wow, punk!
i am somewhat embarrassed that i saw MYSELF in THAT tune.. yikes!! and you KNOW what i'm talking about, right?
''it's a beautiful day outside and the world is passing you by"
i try not to do that, too! :stick:
thanx for the reminder

BUT. :gok:
why oh WHY did ya cut it at the 'broadband in the shower' phrase?? man!! lol!!
you'd better get that one out, and SOON!! i need to hear howe that one ended!!

hey-yesfreaks!
THIS is some heavy, energetic, busy stuff!! you'd have to be in a coma to NOT want to GET UP and MOVE when you hear it. and you'd have to be P.D.Q. [pretty darn quick] to hear all the instrumentation AND try to get a handle on the content and 'concept' [oh NO!! lol!] behind this art of rational punk!!!

mighty FINE stuff!
[ok-where can i get a t shirt!!-road trip! hehe]
keep it goin' dave!
you're on a roll!

Hey, glad to hear you enjoyed the samples from the new tracks. It's definitely a more modern, "in-style" sound than I've previously gone for, but I think I'll be forever saved from sounding too "hip" or "trendy" by the fact that I'm incapable of leaving anything simple, hehe.

"So Naked Now" is something I deliberately intended to be perceived on two levels...it's essentially about stripping away pretensions and all the debris with which people often clutter their lives, but on the dance floor with everyone in "party mode," I can guarantee many will just take it as an ode to exhibitionism (hope that doesn't get me in trouble, LOL!). Btw, I promise no innocent clothing was harmed in the making of this song...just a page out of a newspaper!;)

Don't worry, I was taking a jab at myself with "Turn it Off" too...a friend heard that and said, "well Dave, if THAT isn't the pot calling the kettle black!"

Meanwhile, that cover version of "The Big Money" is on the back burner...another new song idea popped into my head and I have to run with it! :dog2:

Hi gang!

Sorry to have been absent for most of the last couple of months, life's been keeping me busy, busy, busy and it just seems to get more and more that way all the time. Here's a quick "what's new" update:

- "Storm," another new preview from the forthcoming new CD, has been posted on the site

- A very informal introductory video clip has been posted, sort of a "get to know me" kind of thing (please pardon the amateurish video editing, when it comes to video, I honestly don't know what the heck I'm doing!)

- For those who also visit the Rush sites, six copies of Immovable Mover are being given away as prizes as part of The Rush Interactive Network's holiday giveaway

- Oh yeah, and I also just saved a ton of money on my car insurance by switching...nevermind, that one's been thoroughly driven into the ground by now, I think, hehehe!
