Does anyone else have a copy of this video?
I'm sure some of you must have.
I taped this off the TV a few years ago. It was something I'd never seen before or since anywhere else.
I think it was filmed in France and it features Astral Traveller, Everydays, Then and No Opportunity and Sweet Dreams.
This wasn't a concert, it is a video of the guys playing the songs and messing about in some strange places. Sweet Dreams looks as though it was filmed in a scrap yard. During No Opportunity it shows the guys messing about in a car. God, the way they are messsing around on that car we're lucky they survived to create all the great songs they did. The car is flying around at a fair speed and Jon is hanging off it like Indianna Jones.
I think the video must have been filmed around 1970 after Peter had left the band because Steve appears in it.

Is this not on on the Yes DVD EP that's officially available?

I haven't seen the Yes DVD EP Martin so I couldn't say.
This video I got when watching my local TV station (Yorkshire) late one night and this came on and I taped it.
I'll try and describe it.
It satrts with the guys arriving by plane somewhere they are seen walking accross the tarmac and Steve is carrying one of his guitars.
Then it goes into the first song "Astral Traveller". This begins with a man walking away from the camera wearing a long coat and a bowler hat. Then it shows the band playing the song in a studio. At the end of the song it reurns to the man walking away from camera then at the very end he turns round but his face is obscured by a cut-out apple.
The next song is "Everydays". This starts with Jon singing the song going down a canal in a boat. Then it goes into a mad sequence with the guys being chased round a village by a nun. The guys are also seen striking various funny poses and making faces during this song.
Next up is "Then". The guys are seen playing this song at the end of a rocky peir (jetty). It looks a freezing cold day they are all wrapped up but Tony looks to be shivering. At the end of this song Chris falls over.
Then it's "No Opportunity....". The guys are seen playing this song is a scrap yard. But it also shows them driving round an empty car park in a jeep (humvee) type car. They are driving round at a fair speed and are messing about. They keep standing up in the car, Bill appears to be shouting through a loud hailer and Jon is hanging off the front of the car. Madness but great fun.
In between songs the guys are talking into camera. They are just messing about really. Chris shows us his driving licence, his memebership card for the Speakeasy club and a £5 note, he also says he has something else in his wallet bet we're not allowed to see that.
The video finishes with the credits being rolled and Sweet Dreams being played. As I say I think it is a French production the writing on the credits appears French.
I don't know if anyone else has this video, I'd never seen it before and I've never seen it anywhere else since. But at least I was lucky enough to video it..

A great idea, but remember: British videos wont play on American players (just as a 'Beta'-tape wont play on a VCR). Bummer!

Hey Yessfans,
All of these videos are available for download through the YES Museum.
http://yesmuseum.org/
Be patient - the downloads take forever!
These classic videos are a treasure - I have no idea why the band can't officially release this package.

I've had a look at the Yes Museum. I didn't download everything from there but I'm pretty sure the Video I have isn't on there.
Martin
I found the DVD EP I think you're talking about, in a shop today, and I'm certain it's not the same one I taped from the TV.
I'd love to be able to share this video with you all. But, unfortunately I'm a bit of a thicko, and I also don't have the right equipment to tape a tape. If anybody is ever in my area they are really welcome to call in and watch the video and have a couple of beers.
I really was lucky to be able to tape this from the TV. I'm surprised nobody appears to have the video I'm talking about. It must be buried deep in the vaults of some TV company somewhere.

Stevie,
I'm pretty sure that the YES museum has the videos you're referring to. Click on the "VIDEO" section and scroll down to the "Time and a Word" promotional Section.

Tom C,
Yes that is the one, you're right.
I haven't downloaded any of the clips, but I can see from the pictures, the clips are from the video I have. I see the Yes museum is asking is asking for anyone who has a high quality tape of this to get in touch with them. I think I'll get in touch.

I know that clips of this special was actually used in the YESYEARS video, not only that but also for the YES segment on VH1's 100 Great Hard Rock Bands program (which is also on Yesman's Yesmuseum website). My guess is either YES/Atlantic (or Rhino) are trying to find the right time to release the material. Or the original film master probably needs an overhaul in the remastering dept (a la Led Zeppelin)

Well there you go! I really wish that YES would put out a nice filmed archive, as Led Zeppelin just did.
I've seen the Zep DVD a few times now, it was done beautifully!
We had to wait 30 years to get it, but hey! At least it finally came out: and it's a fine document. I especially loved the acoustic set: damn, it makes it worth the waiting...
~~~~~~
It's a well known fact that YES filmed quite a few shows back when. There's quite a bit of underground 'documentation' that went on last year... Some great audience videos out there.
If the band could put some of the pro-shot things together with some of the rougher 'audience' stuff, it would have class, presence, and all the charm of actually 'being there': which is what it's all about...
