I assume a lot of yes fans have Oye, big peace, conspiracy, tales from yesterdays (with billy's band doing wonderous storis billy on keys and bass on that track) The ladder, and the unknown. so we all know how good of guitarest he is and how good of a keyboardest he is so what do you want him back as (when he rejoins)

I vote for rhythm guitar and backing vocals. He also could play the Yes West waste and Steve could take a break at that time and I could go to the bathroom, lol. But I doubt we will see Billy in the band as long as Steve is around.

I love the new Conspiracy album and Billy is a better musician than I thought, but... I am happy with this line up so I don't want to change or add things.

I LOVE 'The Unknown', and would love to see him tour on the album. Maybe, between Yestours, Chris could do it, and we'd all be happy!
Billy Sherwood IS an amazing guitarist/vocalist/singer-songwriter/producer. Talk about a Renaissance man!
I enjoy the current line-up as well, but am open to what the future holds, and Billy Sherwood is a fine musician.
If they build it, I will come.

I posted something last week from Classic Rock magazine in which Chris said that 'maybe' something will happen about a tour with him & Billy. Maybe even something with Chris, Billy & Trevor Rabin

I think Billy should come back as what ever he wants to or whatever his Karma has destined him to come back as. He might even come back as a goat!

The one Yes tour I saw him on, I thought his participation was, well, pointless. As far as I could figure out, he was there to sing the high harmony parts that Chris' shredded voice no longer could. I remember during Siberian Khatru, I thought "Cool! I'll finally get to hear all the guitar harmony parts" (such as the great riff in thirds under "Sing bird of preeeeeyyyyyy" after the guitar solo) and all he did was...strum chords.

I think the current line-up's the best - it needs no tampering. Billy Sherwood is a fine musician I'm sure... but he's not needed in Yes.

he is needed especially for the harmonies on the rabin peices.

If Steve had to retire for some reason, and Trevor Rabin didn't want the job, then yes he should.
But could he play CTTE? Or Awaken?

I wouldn't mind him coming back as a sort of backing member, as he was on the Talk tour and also in the 97-99 period. He can only add to the group.

I appreciate Billy tremendously and after watching House of Blues, I like him even more. I would actually like to see him back in the band. I don't understand how he could have gotten in the way of Steve's creativity as a lead guitarist as his contributions are always great and never in the way. I think he was much more sensitive to classic Yes music than Trevor was. Comparing Trevor's work on the Union tour with Awaken to Billy's on the Ladder tour, his parts are much closer in style to the Original and add to the song better. His backup parts are always original and never excessive or similar to what Steve is doing at the time. This fleshes out the songs even more. His presence allows missing studio parts and vocals to be included live. He appears very humble so I don't think his inclusion would jeopardize the current line up.

I seriously hope he stays away. I got a chance to see him up close at Yestival in Philly and he has a very sarcastic and crappy attitude. Steve Howe came in the room and interacted with all the folks - answering questions, making conversation, etc... in fact, he picked up a guitar (there were several instruments there in hopes that we could here a tune) and played "Pleasure Stole The Night" after explaining the origins of the song. He then stayed around for at least another hour signing autographs. Even Peter Banks and Geoff Downs sat and talked with the folks and played a couple of songs. All Billy could do was make short and sarcastic remarks when someone asked him something. It was quite obvious he didn't want to be there and could not wait to leave. When he was asked to play something he again made a sarcastic remark and refused. For Christ sake he could have picked up a guitar and played Mary Had A Little Lamb and everyone would have been happy. I see where some folks say he added something, but I don't see it. In fact, OYE is probably my least favorite Yes album. If "From The Balcony" wasn't on it, I probably wouldn't listen to it at all.

I agree no way should Billy come back...in my mind he added very little. On The OYE tour I remember saying to myself 'Why is he there?'

Hmmm. I had the pleasure of meeting Billy at Universal Ampitheater last Spetember and I found him to be a very very nice guy, answering questions, taking photos, signing autographs. Very congenial and funny. Shook my hand twice, once when I walked up to him and when I had to go and find my seat. We had a great talk.
I like Billy, But i tend to agree that I enjoy his Conspiracy work with Chris more than his "addition" to the Yes equation.

Maybe I was a little hard on Billy because he wouldn't play anything for us. Heck, maybe he was just tired or having a bad day. But I still stand behind my feeling that he doesn't really add anything to YES.

I like him ( hell's bells, Chris does so he has to be at least okay ), BUT, not again.

Billy is perhaps the most underappreciated member of Yes. He has multiple musical talents. Just take a listen to The Big Peace, Conpiracy, & The Unknown. His compositional style is top notch, his harmonies are beautifuly haunting and his production skills are unique, producing some very beautiful music. I would gladly like him to come back in any of the following roles: composer, producer, singer, guitar, or keyboards. While his skills at bass and drums are quite good, I am not ready for him to replace Chris or Alan. For me, as long as Chris and Alan are in the lineup, bring back Billy in any of the other roles. Add Trevor Rabin to the mix and we have the start of a very awesome lineup!
