Connor Macleod was born in 1518 in the Highlands of Scotland. In 1536, after facing a mysterious, evil opponent, he survives a fatal stab wound and is banished from his village, for they believe his survival is the work of the Devil. Five years later, Macleod is met by Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, a Spanish swordsman who teaches Macleod the awful truth; he is immortal, one of a race of many who can only die when the head is cut from the body. When one immortal takes the head of another, the loser's power is absorbed into the winner. Ramirez teaches Macleod the ways of the sword. and they fight through the centuries in the show it is introduced that there are watchers mortals who watch the immortals and record but don't intafer (but joe dawson who is the watcher of ducan macloud) one watcher Adam is asigned to find the legendary methos (an imortal who has exiseted at least 100 years before summerans) it is latter learned that adam is in fact methos (his explanation "it's great I make sure i'm never found") it is both a movie series and a show the show is on tnn at 4:00 easter standered time I'd suggest Higlander 4 first then the other three (two being the last since it is a really bad movie and not worth anyone time unless you really want to see it) it has great special effects oh one more thing when an immortal beheads another one a quickening happens where all the power from the loser goes into the winner (the special effect on most quckinings are great) anyways hope my summary (some of it from imdb) not only explains the highlander but hopefull encorage you to either see the show or rent one of the movies watch it and enjoy it

The original rocked.
The first sequel was apparently written not by monkeys, but monkeys from another planet. I've never before or since heard of a "sequel" that simply throws away over half the premises of the original movie, and does absolutely no justice to what remains.
Endgame was a great idea. I liked the TV show a lot and thought they came up with some cool things to augment the story ideas. Some. And the idea of somehow tying up both the TV and movie "universes" properly made a lot of sense. Too bad the movie made almost no sense at all.
