Hey there everybody

I've checked the Roger Dean website from time to time but he left me in great dissapointment because his site isn't updated anymore for a long, long time.

I have this feeling that Roger did not alway support his webmaster that well, but I'd like to know what a website about roger dean really should have.

What do you think? Should it have such a large sale store? Do you really want to spend money on (expensive) artprints? Would a poster from the latest image be fine as well? Do you want to know about techniques, about his fantasy?

What is needed to bring his website alive and kickin? Tell me ok?

Best Wishes,
Jasper Joppe Geers

Hi JJGeers - welcome to Yesfans

I like the Roger Dean website. Sure, it has a shop attached to it but that is how many artists make their living these days.

The video clips that describe the making of the Ladder cover and Relayer cover are excellent value.

And then there are the various e-cards.

Is it updated enough - its hard to know how often that should change. Certainly his news pages are updated reasonably regularly to outline coming shows etc.

What would you do?

Hi BrianD,

If I'm sure the site should be updates every month. As far as I know there is much more news to tell about him!

The Up Close section i.e. has not been modified for 8 months or so... I'd really love to hear other people talk about his work and the way they look at it!

The E-cards are a nice thing, but at that point I would change the available images every month or so.

All the best!

Did I shout to early?

It seems so... go check it out! Indeed there is a new calender, and the up close section has come alive again! This time your words please on the Jade Sea image. And of course, there are some new things added to the store... Anyone for Chinese mugs with pathways on it?

See ya!

I really liked it.

I highly recommend: www.petermax.com This is a primo artist's website with a vast collection of his works and inspirations. The best insight to Roger is the DVD Roger Dean. Incredible and amazing but by his lack of touring and promoting I tend to feel this is an artist who prefers to remains low profile and showing in only specific circles.

I was STUNNED to see the leather portfolio giveaway. Truly! This is something I think every artist needs to do on occasion because it is, after all, very much about the art that we give to the world. GIVE being an operative word when the public supports you on a grand scale for your lithos and prints.

Jasper I did email the Dean site ages ago about showing in the states. Not a peep from them. I have only read through other sources and word of mouth about his appearance in NYC as well as the east coast of the US rather than via email on a members list. Today's email was another surprise. Very good one I might add.

Roger Dean will be exhibiting in Sydney from September 16 - October 12 in association with the Yes tour. I'll set up a thread a little closer to the event to provide more details. Roger will be in Australia for that period and will be attending our pre-concert parties (as well as bringing some of his work to them).
