Which song do you like better and why, if you compare the opening song from "the Ladder" "Homeworld", with the opening song of "Magnification" being the title track??

For me "Home world" wins, however, just on noselength.....it's a slightly more complete song in my opinion and Igor is great on it......

Not exactly sure why. Homeworld is great and all, but I really love the Magnificating. Maybe I'll change my mind someday. It's a pretty close call.

I voted for Magnification. I liked it the first time I heard it. It also worked very well when done live.

This song has very good crescendo effect to it. This orchestra helps it soar forward as it flies up and up. It dances on the air if you will. Alan is the tail rudder keeping it on course. Chris and Steve are the turbo jet engines. The keys and orchestra are the wing flaps that help it soar while sailing in balance. The vocals are a finely tuned pilot's crew reminding us to buckle up and enjoy the flight. It ends as if the plane has turned into a rocket ship breaking out the atmosphere. Great tune.

Homeworld is beautiful and in many ways has the great Yes time signature time changes and it even has the epic like feel. Beauutiful ending to boot.

Yet something about Magnification puts it ahead by a neck. Must be those turbo jet engines.

Cheers Robert Shupe

But i just saw them do magnification on Saturday night so that's fresher in my mind, so that gets the vote.Homeworld is great though.

I love Magnification...

But 'Homeworld' was SUCH a strong track, and now that I think of it, I think I'll put that on the stereo right now...

Very tough, but I chose Magnification.
Probably because of the way it rocks.

Well, I had a beautiful post going here, and then my finger slipped, and I don't know WHAT I hit - but it closed Internet Explorer and I lost it. I'll try to recreate.

This one was too close to call for me.

I love Homeworld. The Ladder has been a constant companion in the car for me recently, so I have heard it a LOT. It is a compelling tune for all the reasons previously stated, and is a perfect intro to the rest of the album.

And I also love Magnification. I tend to get hooked on one album for a long stretch. Just as it's The Ladder now for me, for several months prior it was Mag. And Magnification is a powerful intro, especially with its segue into Spirit of Survival - a perfect gateway to the rest of the album with its beautiful theme of love.

Sorry, I can't choose!

"Homeworld" marked a return for YES, for me. "The Ladder" was very strong album, with everyone's ideas into it. Unlike its' predecessor "Open Your Eyes." I was really expecting an album like "The Ladder" when "OYE" came out. So, "Homeworld" and "The Ladder" in general are very close to me. "Magnification" is a terrific track though. I wish YES would bring "The Ladder" back alive on tour. Give us a little "Homeworld." I can see Rick really having a good time on it.

Overall, I'd have to say I like The Ladder better than Mag, but I love the title track of that album, so that's how I voted.

but, Homeworld it is!! Both are strong songs, but Homeworld really utilizes more YES magic and flare.

I voted for Homeworld, although I like the Magnification album more than The Ladder. But I think Homeworld is one of best recent Yes songs.

Since the score is equal at this moment..........I'm bringing this thread back to your attention!

Seems like the score is still almost tied, and most of the voters (myself included) aren't really leaning far toward one or the other. I think we'll have to conclude that both songs are basically equally awesome and that we love them both!!!
