A blogging group recount a Tales From Topographic Oceans show with fantastic pictures, and the writing is really good too. For a moment I could imagine what it was like to be there!

This blog is worth a nice long browse, as they review lots of good classic bands in their heyday.

Listening to long pieces of serious music in a hot and sweaty venue was not easy.

This is great. Thanks!

It's an absolute tragedy that no filmic record of that tour exists (or has yet surfaced - there are 'tales' about a film Crew tailing the band at the time, but what happened to the actual film is not known). As one who was too young at the time it would be amazing to be able to relive this experience. These photos are great! Thanks for sharing

Bravo the "70's"! Get a load of Chris' outfit.... the boots! and Steve's cape (?) winter jacket (?)
It's easy to see where Spinal Tap material came from!

I honestly thought Steve was wearing a dress at first. And it would be great to see some footage of a Tales show.

I dont think Yessongs was released in theatres until 1975 but it was a big hit ( doing better business than Jaws in some instances) and was still being projected at midnight showings into the very early 1980's (I saw it twice).
Once that happened it is hard to excuse them for not filming the concerts since there was now a vehicle for makeing money and a way of showing it.
Dont forget that was many years before Betamax/VHS players were made.
So the Tales tour happened before Yessongs was released.

Can't even imagine what it would've been like to have personally been there. The closest I ever came to that was their 2004 show at Madison Square Garden, the finest concert experience I'll probably ever have.

What I can remember of my Tales tour experience can only be described as "otherworldly". :D

I have a feeling that Chris raided Nikki's closet for this show... chris ;-)
