Tonight I grilled a couple of rib-eye steaks for dinner. To go along with the steak, we had:

Roasted potatoes on the grill
Steamed spinach
Steamed wax beans
Garden fresh tomatoes and cukes

Picked up a nice thick rib eye steak, gave it the dry rub and set it out on the counter to bring it to room temperature. I'll chop up a small pear and a small apple, wrap it in foil and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes. Then I'll lose the fruit and put it on the grill to sear it and it could almost be eaten with a fork alone, medium rare. Some asparagus with olive oil and a baked potato and I'll have a beer to wash it down.

Yes, thanks, sweetie---I layered all the ingredients in the slow cooker last night so there really was a minimum of work to make it. Cooked it for 6 hours on low, and it's wonderful. Wish you could have some with me! :hearts:

I'm tryna feel better---thank you for the well-wishes, babycakes. I have promised myself that I won't ever mentally kick myself for all the years of damage I did to my immunity....but when I have a cold/flu for over 3 weeks at a time, it gets to be a real challenge to not berate myself. . .

As time goes by, will your immunity improve or is the damage irreparable?

If the soup is that easy to make, I think I'd be living on it while I recuperate, if I was you. I love lentil soup but, strangely enough, I don't have a recipe. Anyway, I'd let the slow cooker do all the work and rest as much as possible.

We had an amazing dinner tonight:

Grilled steaks (There were rib-eyes and NY strips. I had 6 oz of NY strip because it was much leaner)
potatoes roasted on the grill
Oven roasted acorn squash
Corn
Tossed salad
Home made apple sauce
Crusty rolls

Small portions of everything except salad for me, as I'm trying to get back on track with my diet, but I didn't have a roll.

I stumbled across this great little eatery. It's completely reminescent of Seinfeld's The Soup Nazi episode.

You walk up to the counter and behind the sneeze guards are 12 different giant pots (vegetarian on the right - meat on the left) of soup with a guy standing behind the soup. As it turns out he's incredibly friendly. It's a family run business. They also do gyros and sandwiches and falafels.

I love pancakes, (and I can't remember the last time I ate them), but I don't eat cooked blueberries....not since that bluebeery pie eating contest in '81. But, oh man, I love pancakes!

I made another kiss-arse dinner tonight. I stuffed some enormous bell peppers. The stuffing included ground white meat turkey, onions, peppers, fresh garlic, celery, mushrooms and diced tomatoes. I baked them in a covered roasting pan, with about two inches of tomato sauce in the bottom. Served 'em up with some fresh, steamed green beans.

It's a guilty pleasure for me.

I completely understand. I can't remember the last time I had it and as much as I love it, I won't be having it any time soon.

We just finished dinner. We made an amazing boiled dinner with some country style pork ribs, (fat trimmed off), potatoes, cabbage, turnip, carrots and onions. Having all that stuff simmer slowly in one pot made for some amazing flavor.

Tonight I grilled some turkey tenderloins, seasoned with Montreal chicken seasoning and just a pinch of Bell's seasoning. We had those with oven roasted sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, and sliced tomatoes and cucumbers.

For lunch I made a roll-up with a flour tortilla, cream cheese, deli ham, lettuce, sliced leek, and home-made salad dressing.
