Well, my band and I are going to start recording some stuff tomorrow. I had put together this make shift recording studio in my bedroom. So, this is the first session I'll be using the room as such. Hopefully, this will result in with at least part of the session to be used on a cd that we're planning on putting together for release in mid summer. I'll be playing guitar/vocals and producing it. The music is nothing Yesish but I thought I would share this bit of good news with everyone. The band lacks a name for the moment, but we'll think of something. I'll update this from time to time to let you know the progress that is being made on the project.
Pat Moraz swept and slept in many a studio before fame, so it all starts somewhere. Good news.
Just don't name the band Bed, Bath, and Beyond! Try King Suite or Double Occupancy!

Well, it's not even really progressive. We're pretty much a guitar trio kind of band (i.e. Hendrix, Cream, etc.) but with a little bit of a modern twist to it. The thing about the band is that we're a live band. And that's how we intend to record this disc. There's not many bands now a days that does that. It's all digital cut and paste now a days. I don't expect to revolutionize anything, but I want to breathe in some fresh air into music.
That's great, electric. We do the same thing. LIVE ONLY. Straight to hard disc. It's very old skool of us, but there is a LOT to be said about a band that can play what they record. Way to go.

We all woke up late today. So, we didn't really start doing anything until the early afternoon. Set up and everything. But it took a while to get some of the equipments running because there are a couple of channels out on one of the mixers we were using. After that was fixed, we were ready to go. We just really started recording today just to test out this little makeshift studio of mine. So, we really didn't concetrate on original materials. That'll be for another session. We recorded what we knew. So, that would mean tunes by Dave Matthews, Traffic, Muddy Water, Howlin' Wolf. Then we did like we did two of our own songs. I think we at least 3 takes of each, knowing that we might screw up somewhere in one of those takes. Oh, and at the beginning of the sessions we were just goofing around on some novelty stuff, which we may or may not use on the final product. It was fun. We started out at 1:30, two-ish. We ended at about 6:00 pm.
I just transfered one of the songs from the tape to the computer and just burned it to cd. Popped it in the home theatre stereo and it sounds great!. Not bad for something that was done with a $30 budget (which was for the purchase of some cables and adapters) with tapes and clarinet reeds. lol
Well, I'm going back to drawing board to do some more tweaking. I'll do another update soon.

My band used the same studio and centre that Earthworks used the night before.
Though we're not Prog, I'm the only Progger in the band.

What a great feeling you must have had while recording.

I'm going to post electric's band's website on here now that it's up.
I should tell you all, that first song is BACKWARDS. I'm not that advanced in my musicianship so you all would have probably recognized it but at any rate, that intro song is backwards.

Thank you very much for those who've viewed the web site. Granted, the band's music may not be that of YES, I still find their strive for perfection a great influence on me musicially. However, I can safely say that the "power trio" has now gone into organic mode. Much of this has come from my listening to the Traffic albums of the early-mid 70s (John Barleycorn, Low Sparks, Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory, On the Road, an When the Eagle Flies.) So, the only thing in common that we have with Yes is the length of time in each songs. lol But I encourage more people to view website as we continue to work out plans of more recording and putting some gigs together.
