OK Today lets put some of the better known songs from 90125 head to head...
It Can Happen
vs.
Hold On

Good one. I think these two are similar somehow and fun to compare. Hold On gets my vote because it's been a favorite of mine lately. I love the 9012Live version too. Great YesWest tune. So's the other one, but hey. I had to pick one.

It Can Happen
Patrick once told me that this was OUR song.

One of my favorite Yes West songs...
You know, It Can Happen sounds a bit like the 'Trooper-period' to me... The main guitar/sitar figure reminds me of the synth-line from Yours Is No Disgrace (Anyone else ever make that connection?): but the song is it's own world, and I love it!!!
I wish the guys would play this one again, I would love to hear it with the current line-up, just out of curiosity. I think it would work, by Jove!

I like It can Happen. I just can't get into Hold On. The lyrics just make me cringe.

...but not in this instance. It Can Happen-does. One of my faves from 90125.
Oooops! This time you've come up with a very tough one, yarstruly...
Sincerely, I can't vote - it's a tie for me. These are two of my favourite songs from the Rabin era and I feel completely unable to find a reason to get one on top of the other.

For me, "Hold On" drags a bit. I'm particularly disapointed in it in a live setting. "It Can Happen", on the other hand, is very fun. The Cinema demo (pre-Jon) from YesYears is even very good. I think adding Jon made it much better not only because the sound of his voice was a nice addition, but because he greatly improved the lyrics.

P.S. Perhaps a vote between "It Can Happen" and "Leave It" would have been more of a challenge.
