Hello all!
I wanted to steal a minute of your browsing to ask you to check about my band, called "Subterra". I've had the chance to show it to some yesfans at the chats, and I could sell a couple of CDs to interested people (you know who you are :D ), and they could share their thoughts about it with the rest of you ;)
The music style is prog rock, being Marillion, Arena, Ayreon, Genesis and Yes the most important influences. There are some reviews you can check out, one of them is in Issue #39 of Progression Magazine (where our performance at Baja Prog 2001 Festival was also reviewed) and another review can be seen here. (http://www.dprp.vuurwerk.nl/reviews/0201.htm#Subterra)
Also, I want to provide you some samples of the songs, that can be reached at the following addresses:
http://www.subterra.org/audio/presagio.mp3

http://www.subterra.org/audio/slr.mp3
http://www.subterra.org/audio/prometeo.mp3
http://www.subterra.org/audio/cetrementti.mp3
These are samples of 5 of the 9 songs in the album. Our website will be redesigned soon, and we hope to add an english version as soon as possible too. The spanish version of the site is inwww.subterra.org
If anyone is interested enough to buy the disc, please contact me at tony@subterra.org me and my bandmates would highly appreciate it.
Thanks for reading!!!

[did i say that right, sono??;) ]
i received subterra cd sombras de invierno about a week ago..have been 'studying' and listening now everyday..
WOW!! this was a wonderful opportunity for ME to grow as an active listener of progressive music. i have realised howe much i depend on lyrics to 'set the tone' of any particular song or lp..well, can NOT do that with this band.. my espanol is VERY bad.. eh.. malo..;) i HAD to just listen and absorb without any help in the 'language' department, and it was very eye-opening to say the least!! once i stopped trying to catch and remember a few words, i got totaly involved in the musical portion of it..[sono! your 'army of keyboards' sound is just overwhelmingly beautiful!!]
i kept saying to myself 'that bassman can rock!' or 'that vocalist can really sail on up there'..and of course, our very own sonoacoustico is a 'bad-ass keys player'!!
i enjoyed every single instrument cause i had to really pay attention!! [isnt that expected?? to really pay attention?]
i *almost* dropped you a letter, sono, to beg for english translation..but i thought it only fair to listen before i scoured over the lyrics..
all good people-get this disc!! pretty good, i think!! i give it an enthusiastic four thumbs up!
great work, amigos!! [and thanx so much for the signatures, too! really makes it personal to me:hearts:  ]
[and this cd must be purchased, of course. we need to support financially, the endeavors of prog musicans who want to carry the flame, right?]
off to find that spanish/english dictionary now!!;)

hehehe, thank you very much for your words Kathi,
We really worked very hard for that album, and it's really important for us to receive such commentaries :D
Well, I guess I'm not "the one" to translate the lyrics (since I didn't write any lyrics for the album) I could give you a brief explanation about what each song is about.
Presagio (Omen, Portent) - This instrumental piece was made like a kind of message saying "something will happen" it doesn't say if it's for good or bad, but something definitely will happen.
Fragmentos (Fragments) - This song talks mainly about a male-female relation, about a man seeing his woman leaving (at least that's what he supposes) and feeling that he sees her everywhere.
Secretos del Viento (Secrets of the Wind) - this song is based in a book called "Juan Salvador Gaviota", that tells a story about a seagull, he has some thoughts about how is life, and he feels very lonely, but some kind of voice says to him there are more "beings" like him at more bright clouds. So that kind of open his mind
Sobre Los Rieles (Over the Railways) - This one is about a woman. The storyteller believes that there is a right woman for him, that they were born to be together and etc. But soon he realizes she has beeing playing with him, and at the end his world falls apart and he ends killing her
Mantis (Praying Mantis) - Here we find a man claiming that his girlfriend doesn't let him do anything without her consent, that she has all control and always overrules. And he is trying to express he doesn't stand that situation no more. The title refers to the behaviour of the Praying Mantis, whenever the male and female mate, after the act the female eats the head of the male, and basicly that's what that girl was doing to the narrator.
Prometeo (Prometheus) - this one is based in the myth of prometeus. I believe he was a god that was discovered to love a human, then he was condemned to be enchained to a rock on the mountains, and a bird would everyday fall from the sky and eats prometheus' liver... that was supposed to last forever. But the gods never knew that someday prometheus escaped to his prison. The message here is "nothing, absolutely nothing lasts forever"
Primavera de Praga (Praga's Spring) - This one tells how the czech people would resist non-violently when they were invaded some decades ago. They fought the tanks with flowers!
Cada Mil Aņos (Each Thousand Years) - That is basicly a love poem written by our vocalist.
Cetrementti - Well, that's my favorite song of the album, lyricly and musically. It tells a strange story about a non-corporal being. He claims to live in each cementery, and he says he has been there even before the beginning of time itself, he says "I was there when your ancestors were buried, I always were there" he claims he will be there when the last one of your race dies, he will continue there when the deadline of every living thing on earth would expire. but after a time, he begins to realize that he would be absolutely alone in the time of his own death, and he begins to cry about it "Who will be with me???"
======================
well, We hope to have english translations of the lyrics in the site soon. and thanks again for the kind words ;)
Best regards
Claudio

I love this album!
No, I don't understand the Spanish lyrics - yet! But that doesn't detract one whit from the music for me! This band rocks! And they are phenomenal musicians! This CD has been in the regular rotation in my car ever since I purchased it!
A story about a reaction to this album - I picked up my son the other day at his dad's house, and we all decided to go have some dinner. Well, I drove, and the Subterra disc was playing - Track 4 - Sobre Los Rieles. A keyboard part was just coming on, and my ex said "Is that Rick (Wakeman)?" My son and I started to laugh, knowing who it was! When I told him it was Claudio (sonoacustico), he said "He's really good!"
Yes, he is - and so are the other musicians in the band! If you love progressive music - get a copy of this CD - it is fantastic!
And upbgirl - I would also love to hear Subterra live! I'll bet it would be an awesome performance!
And thanks, Sono, for the explanation about the songs. That helps some. I had heard the explanation about Cetrementti, but wasn't sure about the others. I do catch a word here and there, but not enough yet to really translate the lyrics. But I'll keep trying!
