Just got through several weeks of being "Clayed" on American Idol. Now, I've been a Yes fan for many, many years, and Jon Anderson absolutely floored me the first time I saw them live (1976), his angelic face, his astoundingly beautiful voice, he touched my very soul. Well, for the first time since 1976, another singer has done that for me, Clay. Those eyes, that voice. Reminded me so much of the first time I saw Jon. I know the music isn't the same, but the magic is. And, yes, I really do feel that AI is silly and only watched it with mild interest- until Clay. Better he didn't win, he is too good for the TRL and the like; he is growing so far beyond that now.

So, my question to all of you is: Did any other devoted Jon fans feel the same way I did? And I would love to someday know what Jon thinks of this young man who has so quickly touched so many hearts and souls. (Love Clay? Welcome to YESFANS. Glad to have you hear with us.

To answer your question, American Idol didn't get much play, if any, on my television. All I know is that Paula Abdul ( vibeology!..on a funky way) and this rude fellow were on there. Other than that, I have no base to compare with.

We do agree on one thing, that anything commercialized like AI isn't good enough for the real deal.

Welcome, LoveJon! Glad you found us, and hope you post often!

Apparently Clay really touched your heart. Unfortunately, I didn't see him - like Dances - I don't watch AI. Actually, I don't watch much TV at all these days - usually on the computer or doing other things!

If he is as good as you say, hopefully we'll hear more from him!

Hmmm, I never made a Jon-Clay connection. I was rooting for Ruben and Trenyce, although I think Clay is talented as well. Still, I wouldn't buy any of their music - just not my thing. Unfortunately, none of the top contestants can outgrow AI for a while - they have contracts to fulfill.
