How the hell did you get TXTS out of the show. They people running the place were on you like a fly on ---- if your phone light was on.

and the prev shows sound issues were not as issue tonight I thought. Maybe a few spots but pretty clean I thought.

One thing they could have done a litle bigger, would have been the screen behind them showing stuff. That would have been sweet if it were twice as big.

Yeah, Jack said (after the show) that they were pretty strict with phones and cameras.

Yep, they were. I guess I could understand because the Palace is such a beautiful theater. What a great setting for a Yes concert. Tim is right about the screen, it was used very effectively but I also wish it'd been bigger. That said...
This was a great Yes concert. It started out a bit slow with "Parallels", got better with "Tempus Fugit", then they really hit their stride on "YIND", which Chris introduced as being from the "Oddysey Dawn" album. "Soon" was beautiful, and I loved the way Oliver played keys here, different than I'd ever heard but beautiful. "Close To the Edge" was pure bliss. And here is where I must say: Benoit David IS the Yes singer. No more "it's not Yes without Jon". I saw this line up the first time at the Taft theater in Cincinnati in 2008 and the band was great but I wasn't completely sold on Benoit. Then at Blue Ash last year, that was an outdoor festival with a huge crowd and was more about the atmosphere and a fun day, although the band played well. Tonight it was obvious that Benoit has made the singer's role in Yes his own. He sounds better than he has before, he's confident and he's comfortable. He's no longer a "stand in" for Jon. He and Oliver are full fledged members of Yes and both fill their roles extremely well. Oliver was spot on all night. Let's remember, he plays parts recorded by Tony, Rick, Patrick and Geoff. For my money, he's the best overall keyboard player the band has ever had.
Steve's solo was beautiful as always, the first part being a song I didn't recognize, the second being "To Be Over." He mentioned that he made an arrangement of TBO for Alison Kraus, something I didn't know. "Machine Messiah" was great. "ISAGP" was more lively than in the past, and a crowd pleaser. We have to remember that the vast majority of people at Yes shows want to hear these songs. "LDR/Whitefish", again, was immaculate and full of life. "Owner" was by far the best I'd ever heard with Steve, he was into it and played it with much more feeling than, imo, he ever has before. He had some nice effects also. "Starship Trooper"...what can I say...this line up just smokes on ST. "Roundabout" stayed true to the studio version, again the performance was immaculate. Now...what am I forgetting?
The crowd...the Palace seats 2700 and it was almost full. A nice mix of "veteran" Yes fans and quite a lot of young people, and very enthusiastic. Great setting, great atmosphere, great crowd, great performance. One of the all time best for me.

How was Steve on YIND in particular?

Tim called me during a song, but I'm not sure which one. Live music doesn't often translate too well over the cell. But I did appreciate being thought of.

OMG, I knew it!
And ya, what is it with Steve? He's been playing notes between the notes lately - unbelievable. Watching and listening to him at Town Hall NYC Feb. of last year, my emotions went from awe to disbelief and back again.

Exactly. He's more like the Steve of the 70's. I watch the videos of him on House of Yes and Symphonic and Tsongas and he looks like he's aging...slowing down and going through the motions. Now he's playing with a lot of energy and jumping around (as much as a 62 year old can jump around) and having a blast up there. He looks and sounds like the Steve Howe I first got to know.

I made the show with my daughter. We made the drive down from Dayton and grabbed a bite to eat at Cunningham's right across the street. The Palace Theater is a beautiful venue. My daughter took a billion pictures of the theater.
I'll admit I've been a bit skeptical of the the new lineup but the Louisville show was outstanding. The guys were on fire! Benoit's voice sounded the best I've heard to date. I've never heard them play Parallels or Machine Messiah live before, so this show was a real treat for me. Although I still miss Jon not being in the band, I would more than likely have never heard Machine Messiah live otherwise, so I was very grateful for that. The band seems very tight. I hope the new album reflects that type of energy. I hope for great things from this lineup.
The only negative part of the night were the idiots in front of us that seemed more intent on talking rather than listening. A couple next to them were so annoyed that they moved back a row and sat next to us to get away from them. It all worked out for the best because I ended up meeting one of the coolest people I've ever met at a Yes show. Kevin if you are a member at Yesfans, you rock dude!

This really was an incredible show. This was my 7th Yes show, and may have actually topped the Nashville show on the Masterworks tour as my favorite that I've been to. The Palace is a gorgeous venue. This was my 3rd time seeing Yes at the Palace, and it was easily the most enthusiastic audience I have ever seen there, which was just an awesome sight, giving Yes a standing ovation after each and every song. The band really picked up on this too and seemed genuinely appreciative and touched by the response. The guys were absolutely on fire for this show. My brother and I were in the fourth row right in front of the man himself, Chris Squire...his array of bass guitars were pure thunder and even blew one of the PAs to the right of the stage. I couldn't help but notice how much fun they were all having on stage too. Chris and Alan in particular were really amusing each other and sharing a lot of laughs. And hey, I was thrilled to finally get to hear Parallels live for the first time...
It was a proud night for me as a Louisvillian and a Yes fan. I hope for many more shows like this...

Heading back to Tampa today, after further reflection, I am so happy to have made the trip for this show. Although they were great in Orlando 2 weeks ago, this show (Louisville) goes into my top 10. Great audience, awesome venue, band having fun and looking strong, confident and comfortable. To see Oliver smiling and relaxed, Steve kicking ass, Squire being squire, Alan putting his best effort forward, and Benoit looking, feeling, and nailing his role, (an almost impossible task) of fitting into the shoes of a legend!! Amazing.
Thanks to all my YES friends for the party, the laughs, the chills, and the emotion. A super duper weekend!!! I'm giving it all *****'s! "ONWARD"
