Billy Sherwood,
Quite possibly the most disliked member ever to join Yes. What do you all think about his contributions?
Worthless or Worthwhile?
Think we'll ever see him back?

Seems to me he did not contribute much. Not on stage, beyond filler sounds.

JUST KIDDING!!!!
I agree, Billy was a waste of space, and I will never agree with those who feel that Yes wouldn't be what they are without Billy ever joining the fold.
He was an okay producer, but I'd say that KTA 1 & 2 have real a real over-produced sound to them. Where even the albums I thought were overproduced before, like 90125, and The Ladder sound Analog compared to KTA.
I love the 2 KTA CD's though, don't get me wrong, just notice that slight difference. Like they almost didn't even mean for the songs to sound the way they did on the album, but it all changed in post-production.
By the way I am only referring to the stusio tracks.
Who knows, who cares, but I bet we'll never see him back in the group as an actual member.
Can anyone who isn't a fan of Billy actualy tell me that World Trade is good? Not that I'ver heard them and am bashing them, just wondering what people think of his music outside Yes. Because that is where he seemed to belong: working outside the band

Joe, you said the s-word! Sherwood, that is. We'll see Peter Banks back in Yes before Billy Sherwood. I've heard some wild rumors about this upcoming tour...

I hated Billy when I first saw him at the Beacon Theater in New York City in 1997 on the OYE tour. He looked like a bad Sammy Hagar wannabe and added nothing positive to the band's sound.
I had a much better impression of him during the Ladder show at the Beacon. His guitar work was a little less grating and he actually sounded great on "Hearts" from 90125 (I'll never forget Steve's walking off the stage after every slide guitar bit he did during that song. He probably went to the wings and covered his ears).
With all the personnel changes a band like Yes goes through, there will always be members you just can't stomach. I thought Rabin did a lot for the band in the studio but hated watching him live. Trevor Horn did great studio work but was almost painful to hear in concert. If you want to enjoy a nice cup of tea, some times you just gotta take your lumps.

Tim, why are you talking about Trevor Horn in a Billy Sherwood forum?
But to answer your question, imo, they did a good job on the Drama material, but he had problems on songs like And You And I.

Ha ha ha ha, it was there and I just responded to it. I will admit when you questioned it, it took for a few read throughs to find where the Horn remark was stated. :ohhyeah:

I have to admit, fine, Billy wasn't the best guitar player ever to take stage with Yes but I must admit I like his voice. As for producing efforts, I don't know enough to comment!!! In my opinion they guy has talent and I'm a fan of his. He may have not been suited to Yes but that doesn't mean he's crap! I've got Billy's "The Big Peace" which is really good, World Trade's "Euphoria" which is brilliant and Squire/Sherwood's "Conspiracy" which is totally amazing, I love it! I feel that too many people focus on the fact he is up against Howe and Rabin, guy's who he had to play with on stage and of course, overshadowed him making everyone think he is rubbish. Hate is a very strong word and I wouldn't use it on Billy. There is good in every situation and in this case, Billy being in the band brought my attention to him so I'll be watch his solo career from now on.
As for him on "Hearts" on the Ladder tour, he did sound really good!
