To make things more interesting, Alec is not going with me
I will be taking a bus from here, and meeting up with Trooper1129 and another yesfriend.

I think I will have a blast

wish my sister's training was complete and she was working at the airlines. Because I'm her sister, all I have to pay is taxes. Probably have to take a lot of red eye flights but hey, I travel well. I WILL see this man's work up front and personal.

Got home late last night from Roger Deans exhibit in NYC.
It was wonderful, alot more stuff there than in philly 2 years ago.
Even some new stuff, like In a Word cover. its so amazing to see his stuff in such large form, to see all the great detail that gets lost in the shrinking.
The colors are so vibrant.

Roger was pleasant, I would guess there were about 30 people there.
Me and my daughter Aimee met up with, Kim, Ray and Donna(trooper1129) there, Ray and Donna were wonderful hosts for us nonnewyorkers!!LOL.

Roger had a very nice conversation with my daughter about his Views book that she had him sign.

Film will be getting developed today, so I will post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

If you get a chance you should stop in to see his stuff, it will take your breath away for sure.

my lip with jealousy!

How very awesome Dee. I so wish I could be in your shoes. Unfortunately, it's a bit too far for me to visit. Maybe he will head south some time in the future. Glad it was a good show.

**were people buying?** (that's a plus)

With those prices it wouldn't be possible for the average person to buy, the least expensive things were the Yes dragonfly prints and the Asia Eyes prints, and they were $500.

some were $350,000. thats for an original.

heres 1 picture of me and Aimee with Roger,
notice Aimee holding that Views book, she held onto to it for dear life after he signed it. She said she almost cried because he took the time to talk to her.

more to come

Sounds like you had a great time Dee and thats a lovely photo. Can't wait until September when Roger will be in Sydney - though it sounds like I'll need a deep pocket to buy anything!

must be the hair!

I would love to see Roger's work up close and personal.

Dee I can Imagine the detail that is lost in reduction of his work. I've seen the DVD of Roger Dean's work, and I love hugely occupied spaces of work. That would be Roger.

DEE...what was your favorite piece?

with only 30 present, I'm sure you got to meet the artist. What did you find most impressive about him?

What did I find most impressive about him, hmmm, I would have to say the way he took the time to talk with Aimee about the Views book, he told her that a UK tv show called the Antique Road show appraised the original version of Views in Mint condition with his signature at 1000pounds. then he signed her copy(of course ours is no where near mint). He also told her that there was a new one. Other than that he was just very pleasant, he joked alittle.

I would say my favorite piece right now would be the "Birdsongs of the Mesozoic" its a new 2003 piece, and is so beautiful. You might like it too just because of the coloring, alot of Purple, I did take a picture of it so as soon as I get it back I will post it.
Second would be "Asia/Aria Bridges", so breathtaking in that size 48"x72"

By the way The In a Word cover "Floating Jungle" acrylic on canvas 48"x72" was there, and its price was $465,000.00. But the priciest piece was "The Center Of The Earth" Acrylic on canvas 48"x72", at a mere $700,000.00.

I stared at the gallery and the pieces...oh my, to have gone there!
Stunning.

I cannot thank you enough for this. I knew the pieces were large. You say that they are acrylic? on canvass?

This would be a dream for me. Dee, how cool for you to have done this with Aimee. What a memory!

Hi Pam
hope you guys do get to the gallery today!! I know you will both love it. I am also thinking of you two, and wishing you tons of luck with the vendors, hope to see much much more of Al's work out there.

Dances, We did have a great time, the whole thing, just the 2 of us going to New York for the day and having it end at the Gallery was amazing. The info I put on that post, I got from the price list that they gave us at the Gallery,
