Another addition to my small DVD collection. I'm sure YES SYMPHONIC will be next, but I really wanted a DVD of this particular line up. I've read mixed reviews about it on the forum, but overall I'm happy with it. The only real complaint I have is about that woman dangling from her feet they kept showing during AWAKEN. She was creepy! I don't want creepy during AWAKEN!

Rob, you can see very often on Ebay a Brazilian release of this KTA DVD, quite cheap but there are 2 songs missing: RSOF and Awaken. :not:

The visual side of the KTA DVD production spoils it for me - especially those dangling girls. Also irritated by that melodrama in the background of Turn of thre Century. That's why Yessymphonic stands out - you can choose to have the video 'extras' playing during the concert or just watch it without. I almost invariably choose the latter.

RSOG - Revealing Science of Fog?
Is that a typo or am I not figuring out which song you mean?

I like the KEYS DVD.
The 'videos' bug me too, not to mention this detail: when Steve is playing a particular run on his guitar, you can see his fingers aren't always playing the notes you are hearing
(Is this as obvious to non-musicians? Just curious...). A lot of 'sweetening' of tracks took place in the studio, and it's a bit too obvious at times on the DVD.

Yet, as maligned as KEYS has been among Yesheads at times, it still holds-up for me. I watch it often, to be honest about it. What can I say? I like my YES with Wakey in the mix... Even if it isn't the quintessential Classic YES DVD.

I will say this: if we get a DVD from the Full Circle Tour, I doubt that I'll spend much time with the KEYS DVD afterwards... We really REALLY need a good visual document of the classic line-up, and we haven't seen one yet, alas!

Here's hoping the new DVD will come about, and we'll be writing on a future thread about how amazing it is.

I'm waiting for the YES ~ FULL CIRCLE dvd to be released. They know we want one!

I hope the new DVD:

1 - allows you to watch all the live performances without interruption, with optional special effects and animations & graphics.

2 - allows the option of seeing all the lyrics as they are sung if you wish. How about also including the option to see the sheet music for each song on the dvd?

3- include YES behind the scenes stuff - backstage, on the plane, in the hotels, meeting fans, and interviews with all 5 of them.

4 - For the newbies, include a mini documentary that tells the story of YES.

I also think this DVD should feature performances from different venues, edited together in the same sequence as the typical concert. The DVD should include songs from BOTH legs of the 2002 tour. Nothing from 2003! I don't want to wait that long! Besides, the 2003 tour will be the source (I hope) of the YES LIVE IN AUSTRALIA dvd!

I want my Live In Austrailia DVD with the option for NO INTERUPTIONS!

And a Roger Dean animated track, for when I want it!

Great ideas Rob!

I love the KTA DVD, mostly because I can kinda llive vicariously by watching them live on the tv heh. I don't care for the background imagery and enhancements at all, I really just want to see the band and hear the music (which is absolutely awesome, IMO) and all that nonsense really takes away from the whole experience for me.

I do however enjoy the cliff-dancing segment playing during Awaken......it reminds me of the performances I've seen with Cirque du Soleil, and in a way that song reminds me of the same thing. (I could totally picture a cirque performance with Yes music in the background....how awesome would that be?)

more often than not, ill put on that DVD and turn up the sounds and just let it play while I do other stuff around the house. All I'm really interested in is the music, and since I don't have a lot of that on CD yet its the only way I get to listen to it. Of course I have to stop and watch every once in awhile. I can't get enough of watching those guys perform......

mmm, what I find really annoying about this particular DVD is the terrible synchronization problems between audio and visuals. And of course the question I will always ask myself: when video directors will realize that people doesn't get bored to see only the musicians playing their instruments??? I can't see any other explanation about why live concerts on video are always "infested" with some special effects that bothers the 95% of the audience...

regarding the Australia forthcoming (I hope!) DVD, i would prefer definitely the option of multi camera angles (that is very interesting and fun to play) instead of special effects (that the 95% of the viewers will never see).

Greetings from Chile

Claudio

A great example of a DVD that doresn't rely on extra imagery is the LED ZEPPELIN DVD. It's just the band playing live. I would like YES to do one this way. I want the DVD to be just like seeing them live.

I just watched the Grateful Dead's View From The Vault IV last night, and as fun as it is, they start doing kalidoscopic things with the picture during the SPACE segments and the DRUMS segments. I really love watching Kreutzman & Hart doing their drum duet, but their performance is obscured by silly imagery.

I've heard the Led Zepplin DVD is good......I'm thinkin of getting it for my dad for father's day, although I think it would be just as much a gift for me as it would be a gift for him =D hehe

Mega Ditto's Brian, Now I want to see more DVD'S and a "NEW" Album would be nice not one of these famous rereleases! They did Symphonic right and I hate to say this but, they should take a look at the new Zep DVd. Now thats the way to appeal your fan base. Thats Yes's biggest weakness not appealing to their fan base and the cd sales and small venues show it. I hope they can do this, but it's going to take some hard work in the studio, the record company promoting them.
