The thread ratings system doesn't seem to work too well. Once someone makes a rating it sticks for good. Others can't add their own opinions so it is a rather pointless exercise.

It is hardly used at all in its current format so I wonder if there is anyway to have multiple ratings on a thread that keeps a tally - I guess the answer is yes as it would be another version of a poll.

I would suggest that if the current thread rating system can be modified into a type of poll then do it. Otherwise I think it might be better to drop it.

I give five stars to every thread I visit - no-one else seems to use the ratings system. Other people can vote too!

That might be a bug then.

I changed my vote to three stars to see what happens.

I just changed it to 4 stars and it worked - now back to 1 star.

Do thread originators rate their own threads? I have suspected this in a few cases. Personally, rating threads seems to just be a popularity contest. Is there some other purpose?

I have noticed many threads with only one star. And this bothers me because they are threads I like. :crybby:

What I usually do is I give a 5 star rating to a thread I started myself and then close it. That way nobody else could vote (except the mods, and Peggy) :winknudge
