I have KTA 1 and KEYSTUDIO in my collection right now.
Is there anything among the live tracks on KTA 2 that is absolutely essential?
From the comments I've heard so far in this forum, most people seem to think only the studio tracks on this disc (which I already have on KEYSTUDIO) are worth talking about.
Anyone have a dissenting opinion?
I strongly disagree with the prevailing winds ... I think that the live version of "Turn of the Century" is wonderful ... I actually have few quarrels with any of the K2 live tracks, though I agree that the mixing of live tracks and the Disc 2 studio tracks was one of Yes's most bone-headed moves ever ...

KEYS 2 has what I feel is the most interesting TIME AND A WORD ever. Very nice interplay between Rick & Steve on that one!

I really like the live tracks on this album and I am glad I have it in my collection.

i'd go along with most of this, particularly Q's comments about Turn of the Century. I'm not sure I needed another version of All Good People though.

Amen Brother!!! I Never, ever understood that....the KTA studio tracks by themselves is one of the stronger statement's this line-up has ever made.....
the live tracks are essential:
Especially an unsettling , highly accurate, astonishingly beautifull live version of Close to the Edge. (imho)
Time and a Word is sheer magic.
GFTO is live also very nice.
Turn of the Century : awesome.
AYAI and ISAGP are bonus.
In short: its a gem.

I think that now that all the Keys to Ascension studio tracks are grouped together, all the live cuts from volumes one and two should be grouped together too. Its only fair.

If you are into variations in Yes music, there are a couple of subtle differences regarding the studio tracks on Keys 2 as compared to Keystudio.
The beginning of Children of light is different. On Keys 2 the song begins with lyrics chanted, kind of like ISAGP.
The intro to Sign Language is also different. The Keystudio version has an extended intro.
I enjoy the live tracks of Turn of the Century and Going for the One. Some of the mixing leaves much to be desired, but these tracks are great.

My thoughts: If you're going to have a complete collection, you would perhaps want a COMPLETE collection.

I have always thought that the KTA II live tracks were the best live tracks I have ever heard from the band. The "classic" lineup, the engineering and the song selections are just stunning! Along with the new studio tracks, this is a must have CD for any YES fan. This remains my favorite YES CD of all time!

the live version of Close to the Edge makes this album worthwhile all by itself. I love the first disc completely, and find the second disc pretty satisfying .

I thought the live version of AYAI on Keys 2 was pretty underwhelming. Howe's guitar is just non-existant where it should be soaring.

Keys I & II - in a word....awesome! The renditions of all my favorite house music is spot on and expertly played. Siberian Khatru still demands my full attention, RSOG sends chills up my spine, America still sounds as fresh as its firts hearing, Onward is so moving, and Awaken is inspiring. Starship Trooper is played with fervor, ISOGP rocks, CTTE is simply astonishing, TOTC hauntingly beuatiful, and AYAI spellbinding.
OK - all the tunes are that on any given dday, but this recording of them is a special addition to any Yes brother or sister's basic collection.

I agree that this collection was packaged wrong... however, there is good live material on KTA2, including TOTC and TAAW... the GFTO here however is weak compared to the '04 version...
