Hi all. Just recently heard this song. I think it's awsome. I like the melody and Jon's voice is great in it as well. What do you all think?

I love the version on Tormato. I like it better than the version on Chagall.

It's really a thoughtful piece of music. I think Jon really put a lot into it. And the arrangement on Tormato is superb.

I absolutely love it. Here's a really nice video that Wendell (YYY) made:

I didn't know about either of them, I just downloaded the Yes song from itunes. Great stuff. Loved Wendell's animation. Picasso is one amazing artist.

It's on Jon's "Chagall."
Jon calls Chagall a work in progress. There's a two disc set of unreleased album sessions that gets traded.

Thanks Melissa. I heard about this cd set, but I have never looked in to it. I'll try to find it.

Hi Mike yes I do and it gives the impression that picasso came from the paris sessions which we all know is not correct it was recorded during 1978. Chris in an interview with Chris Welch during the tormato sessions talked about there being so much material recorded at those sessions there would be a second album to follow the first one. This of course never happened.

I remember Jon giving an exhaustive interview in spring 76 to a long defunct UK music magazine, cannot remember the name, when he was finishing up Olias saying he had all these songs for a second album and had written one about picasso and his painting guernica.

I personally love picasso and richard which again is very character centred
and I also wish he had taken all these ideas and stuck to the intention of making them the basis of a second solo album, rather than offer them to the band. I believe a lot of their subsequent artistic differences could have been avoided if Jon could have worked out what should be kept for him and what should be for the band.

I wonder sometimes whether the success of Wonderous Stories influenced his decision to take these "songs" to the band.

Regards

Michelle

Hi Melissa,

I absolutely adore the duet on Change We Must from Chagall.

I really do hope he will bring Chagall formally to the public.

Michelle

I always wondered what he was talking about till I got the Tormato with bonus tracks.. Cool song...

I think Countryside is cool too... Great bass and rhythm track... They should re-record it with a better vocal performance/mix ;)

The track is simply called Chagall Duet. Change We Must is a really beautiful Jon solo album, the tracks have orchestral backing, they are really well done and Jon's singing is great. Highly recommended.

I just looked at the track listing for Chagall, and I can't identify the song. Now I've gotta pull out Chagall and listen to it and see if it's there!

I like some of the songs on change we must. I haven't heard the entire album, but I like candle song. Jon and jade's voices go good together on that one.
