Thanks for the information. These are Region 2 DVD's but my player can play all regions. I may be in Hamburg in February, so I hope they will be available. Vielen Dank.

The Rainbow DVD may very well be the 'Tales' tour. I don't know this, but from information and source print; this would be a safe guess.

I found something interesting at http://www.bondegezou.demon.co.uk/wnyesm.htm,
a page titled >Where are they now?-Yes members<:

“Classic Rock Productions are releasing a Region 2 DVD entitled "Live at the Rainbow" (DVD7017X), with 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS audio. It's advertised as consisting of tracks recorded in 1972 at the Rainbow Theatre, London, including "'I've Seen All Good People", "And You and I", "Yours is No Disgrace" and "Close to the Edge", and 'Live at the Rainbow' was the subtitle of "Yessongs", so it appears to be "Yessongs" under another name, although why the name change, I don't know. Release is due 27 Jan. At least one online retailer is also advertising a Region 2 DVD entitled "Close to the Edge" (DVD7016X), which appears to be the same thing again, although why the different catalogue number?”

Any idea what right or wrong ?

what's the region 2 - multi region dvd player all about?
tia

"Dear hoopdawg,

As I look after the PR for the Yes DVD's on behalf of Warner Music Vision, I'm not personally in a position to organise shipping to the states.
However, you can order up the titles from www.amazon.co.uk and they will ship them over.
The DVD's are Region2 so you will require a multi region DVD player to watch them.

Kind regards,

Cat

For reasons hard to comprehend beyond company profits, there is no single DVD format in the world. Some parts of the world have Region 1 format, others Region 2, and others Region 3 (there may be others but I'm not up with it all). So if you have a Region 2 format DVD, only a Region 2 DVD player or a multi region DVD player will be able to play it. That is a good reason to purchase a multi region DVD player - then you don't have to worry.

So you need to know what type of DVD player you have before you purchase or else you may be very disappointed.

Can anyone translate the German from the site?

Dieser Film wird erst in Kürze herauskommen und darum zur Zeit in dieser Version noch nicht lieferbar. Bitte einen neuen Film suchen oder später wieder einmal vorbeischauen. Viel Glück!

I guess I now have all of the commercially available DVD's. I have noticed one thing.

Keyboard sounds. It's been discussed before in other threads. I was watching QPR 2 yesterday and recently watched Yessongs again.

I am amazed at how good the keyboards sound. The instruments are relatively archaic to what is available today. This may be a good thing!

Watching Ritual on QRP2 with Moraz was revealing(!). I actually liked the way he played it better that Wakeman has since the TFTO tour. His keyboards sounded great.

Watching Wakeman during Six Wives on Yessongs I find the same thing. Great sounding keyboards. The sound is a good snapshot of what was happening then. Well worth it.

As for the QPR videos: I was hesitant to buy QPR 2 since there aren't any tunes that don't appear elsewhere. But, I am glad I did.

The footage of Moraz is essential. His solo is stunning. Who else could have walked into Yes and produce Relayer? Amazing! I really enjoy watching Alan throwing his head around. He is really into playing in this group.

I would have told Jon to stop playing guitar! Very amateurish and I'm surprised it was musically allowed. He did add a rhythmic part to Yours /Disgrace that I thought worked pretty well. He just didn't need to do it through almost the entire song.

Howe is using his Sho-Bud Pro1 pedal steel. The pedal steel, not just his lap-steel (the yellow one he uses now, without pedals) is required for To Be Over. Steve's steel playing during Gates and To Be over are worth the price of QPR1. So, when we see his pedal steel on stage, be prepared for To Be Over (I'm gonna start pressing for this).

Squire uses a Fender Jazz bass during To Be Over AND Yours/Disgrace! I've never seen this, so another gem of QPR2.

Paul...

I always enjoy your informative posts! I'll be watching for that pedal-steel on stage as well!
I wish they'd play 'To Be Over' again. It sometimes gets overlooked, having shared an album with GOD (Sharing an album with God... haha!) and Soundchaser... But it's an essential yeswerk, which they should certainly revisit!

Ciao!

I thought again about buying QPR2 due to someone else's post about Ritual being so good (and I agree). So I like everybody's thoughts.

I also noticed a mistake in Yours/Disgrace! When the band is coming in to the first appearance of the keyboard melody (right at the end of 1st set of intro chord strikes), the last measure should be a count of 3. It looks like Moraz counted 4. You'll see Squire looking at Moraz and Howe looking on. The timing at this point is straight, so everyone adjusted to Moraz's melody line. A fairly good cover up, but I CAUGHT them!

Yes, we do need to get Steve's guitar tech to get the PEDAL steel up and running. It's a bit of a quandry for them to haul around a peice of gear like that for one song, though. His Fender steel (no pedals) sounds so good on everything else. But, hey, he's a guitar tech. Ten-HUT, dog-face! (hmmm, I'll do it for expenses only!).

I think that Steve actually enjoys making his TECH run around tuning things, tossing guitars into his hands at the last moment... Scowl Scowl Scowl! :D
I heard that last year in Cupertino, Steve all but threw a guitar at the new guy when he handed him the wrong axe! Harhar!

Meistro Steve Howe: 'Primadonna' to the core, but of course we love him!
I guess I would be Steve's TECH, if it meant that I could have such access to the band, but it probably isn't a 'dream-job' for sure!!! Probably leads to high blood pressure and ulcers!

Maybe it's akin to being Tiger's caddy.

I also noticed on QPR1 seeing Steve's steel "bar" that he uses as the slide for his steel guitar. It is cylindrically shaped and it rolled off the end of the guitar during a song, right when he finished playing it. I wonder if the techs keep their eyes open for that kind of thing?
