Hiya guys,

I wish to tell you about somthing special occured to me last May: I was invited by my friend and colleague Rick Scivales, keyboardist in the Yes tribute band we play together and teacher at the Ca' Foscari University in Venice, to hold a conference about Steve Howe's guitar's playing and technique!

Rick teaches history of modern rock and jazz music and this year decided to dedicate his course to Yes music and prog-rock in general, so he decided to include two seminaries, one regarding Rick Wakeman and the use of keyboards in prog music, the other one regarding Steve Howe.

I felt so honoured to talk to an audience of almost one hundred students, all of them showed great interest in Yes music and this rendered me happy and proud at the same time because I realized that after all even the younger generations appreciate music coming from the heart: in two hours I alternated proper discussions with some samples performed by myself on a Telecaster guitar plugged into a little Ibanez ampli kindly granted to me by one of the students, I told some anedoctes about Steve Howe and I explained the differences in styles and instrumentation between Steve Howe and Steve Hackett since I played in a Genesis tribute band until one year ago.

What rendered me very proud was receiving from Rick, at the end of the courses, the relations most of his students gave to him at the examination: it seems like they really appreciated the conference I held dince it was a good way for them to raise their interest on Yes music itself!

Next year, of everything goes fine, I should hold a conference about Steve Hackett and his role in Genesis music! :beerchugr:

Take care,

IGOR
