Give it a try and play *Going For The One*
That's good idea, yes_angel. It's an upbeat tune and I have a guitar to do it with now, at least.
Rabin105, you "seem" to like the Rabin era! What other songs does your band play?
release, release gets my vote!
homeworld, it will be a good day, new state of mind or an "epic medly" would also get a good response...

epic medley sounds great, mess! that way, all of us 'purists' would have a chance to hear how well your band did yes, and also have a refreshing change in the way YOU decide to arrange it..no easy feat, i am sure, but interesting nonetheless...

Played bass guitar in a band circa '79-'80 that did Roundabout/Starship Trooper as a 19 minute 'epic' as well as Long Distance Runaround/The Fish; my bandmates allowed me about seven or eight minutes of self-indulgence with my Rickenbacker and effects/pedalboard. We also played King Crimson, ELP, Kansas, and U.K.

Hi. I started a Yes tribute back in November. We are doing The Yes Album. After The Yes Album, we have plans to pick up older songs like Astral Traveller and then move onto Fragil. CTTE and Relayer are a little further down the line.
We feel that by the time we get The Yes Album down, using parts from the studio album and live recordings, we will have a fairly good understanding of how they write and play and could move toward more difficult tunes.
BTW, anyone here from the Dallas/FtWorth, Texas area. I sure would like to keep in contact with you, so when we start gigging, we can let you know of the venues.

Going For The One would be great...but who's gonna sing it??
That one even gives JON trouble!! Ha ha ha!! Vocally, it's an extremely demanding tune.
Silent Wings Of Freedom would be awesome.
What about Our Song?
Love Trevor's gtr solo in that one.
Parallels?
That one wouldn't be too difficult, and would translate well with the right organ patch.
I was in a prog band in the early '80s, and we covered Tempus Fugit....
a really fun tune that went over quite well. Might be one to consider, also.
Just a coupla thoughts.

As a bassist, I'd like to do:
Silent Wings Of Freedom
I'm Running
Does it really happen
Fortune Seller (Open Your Eyes)
Man in the Moon (Open Your Eyes)
Violet Purple Rose (from Conspiracy with Billy Sherwood)
and just for the heck of it
South Side of the Sky
Sound Chaser
