I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to pose this question but has anyone seen or know of the existence of pix of the Tales sessions? After hearing the stories of cardboard cows and bales of hay someone must have taken a picture of this oddity. I would love to see it.

My friend was there for part of the recording. I believe I've seen some of the shots but it has been quite a while. I can ask his wife next time we chat. Likely in a box somewhere with nine million other things.

That would be incredible if you could post them!! :bncy: (If you can find them)
Thanks for your effort  in advance.
This is important music history ! Its the place where one of the masterpieces of the 20th Century was created !!!
When we here about cardboard cows, bales of hay, and even bathroom tiles - this has to be display of the quirkiness that comes with pure genius!!!
Okay, I'll quit gushing and wait patiently...or better go on a little search of my own :)
The studio is Morgan Studios in Willesden, North London.
Here is a map showing the layout of the studio when it was used by The Cure six years later.

Larry Fast ("Synergy" artist and synthesist/keyboardist for Peter Gabriel albums and tours) was present in the studio for some of the sessions, as a guest of Rick Wakeman.
I saw a talk given by him at the "NEARFest" in PA. -- maybe it was 1999. I had no idea I was about to see photos from these sessions, or that he had been at them. But in the middle of his presentation he nonchalantly started to talk about working in the studio with Yes and projected about 5 or 6 slides of the studio environment for Tales. I am pretty sure that the cardboard animals and bales of hay were the subject of at least one of his photographs.

dont know about the studio, but there was a guy in Wales (Colin Ellaway) who had some of the set in his back garden - there's a link to it on Alan's site, but it seems to be dead.. He did try to sell it @ one point, but I dont know if he ever did..
I recall he said the organ pipes are still at the bottom of the lake that used to be in Alan's old house in Oxfordshire. God knows what any unsuspecting person would make of them if they were to dredge them up!

I think the stuff in the garden was part of the Tales tour set.

I checked with my friend's wife. She is not sure where the photos are but I'm pretty sure I looked at them at some time. Not as sexy or the quality as good as you would think or hope. I did see some other shots very recently of when Yes played soccer during the day against the Phila. team that Rick and other rockers were part owner of. They then played a show that night. There was also in that group of shots some sort of jokey awards presentation but now that my friend has passed, I can't tell you what they were of...sorry.

Sure.
"...He originally wanted to record the album Tales From Topographic Oceans in the middle of the woods, and instead decided to put hay and animal cut-outs all over the recording studio, causing lice to infest one of Rick Wakeman's keyboards. "
