A small pizzeria in Angus has won its battle with global fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) over the term "Family Feast". The Titanic Pizza Co in Carnoustie was warned by KFC to stop using the slogan to describe one of its meal deals because it had trademarked the name.

The Angus takeaway said it had been using the phrase since 1992.

The chicken chain has now written to Titanic to say the matter would not be taken any further.

<!-- E SF -->Titanic's Family Feast is made up of two pizzas, garlic bread, onion rings, chips and juice; while the KFC deal comprises 12 pieces of chicken, four portions of chips, coleslaw, beans and a drink.

KFC's lawyers sent a letter to Titanic saying it had trademarked the term Family Feast in in 1994 and 2003.

Titanic Pizza Co

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IBOX -->The Carnousite pizzeria owners wrote backing saying "we refuse to be bullied by a global conglomerate such as yourselves".

Co-owner Marie Fagan is pleased their tough stance paid off.

"The amount of support we've had from people has been amazing," she said.
"We even had a letter from a guy in Florida saying how disgusted he was and he has sent a really horrible letter to them [KFC] saying he's never going to set foot in the shop again."

And Ms Fagan has seen business boom since news of the row broke.
"People were asking where the shop was and ordering Family Feasts, it's really been great, so KFC kind of did us a favour. "It's just a lesson to everybody to stand up for themselves."

There's a Burger King in Mattoon, IL that won a lawsuit years ago. It's a small family-owned restaurant.

When the Olypics come to town, they bully Greek Restaurants in to changing their names from "Olympic Diner", a very common name.

KFC is owned by the devil.

They chop down thousands of acres of rain forest a year in south America to make way for soy bean farms to feed their Nazi style concentration camp chicken factories....

It's so horrible what they are.

Yes....

quite delicious....but, I'm now a vegetarian....I don't miss white or red meat one bit.....All my gastric "issues" and strange sugar crash/energy issues have, like magic, disappeared as a result of me going veggie.

Hey though, if you raise, slaughter and eat your animal meat humanely I have no moral issues what-so-ever with it.... Hell, I'll even go hunting with you as long as you promise to eat what I harvest.

I can't imagine that they were damaging KFC's brand whatsoever. It's good when the smaller companies aren't afraid to stand up for themselves.

I'm with you that, as the top specie on the planet, we have a responsibility to treat our animal protein sources as the living creatures they are and with as little cruelty as we can. I've shot my supper a few times and fished it out of the Atlantic more than a few times. Were it mandatory that each person had to kill their supper just once in her/his lifetime, I'd bet we'd have more vegetarians. At the very least we'd have more respect from whence comes our food and at what cost to the critters.
I also agree that this responsibility is incumbent both upon persons and corporations. Peace.
