View Full Version : new fan
Whats the best dvd for a good classic yes concert?
I have yes - symphonic, it was ok, but so cheesy.
So I picked up the yessongs cd last week, a hum, new fan here. And liked that a lot better.
So I was wondering, are there any good 'old' concert on dvd?
Thanks.

Danz,
Welcome to the forum. Its not the greatest quality recording, but Live at QPR is a great show featuring Moraz on keys.

Cheesy?! That's unfortunate as the production quality on the symphonic dvd is about the best ever done for yes.
There is a dvd of the yessongs era... called yessongs. QPR as already suggested.. the second half isn't too bad. Not a lot of good Yes visuals out there really. Philly in '79 I hear is not bad and there is the Yesyears boxset with vhs; not sure if there is a dvd of that. There is the webcast from 2000 which was available free at the sfx site. Lots of copies of that floating around.
what i meant by cheesy, is how they play. It's good, but not as good as in their early works.
Ok, the sound quality is very good.
As i live in holland, there are not many yes dvds around. I could pick up yessongs dvd here, for 45 euro's. Thats way to expensive. And I read on sites like amazon that its not even a good quality.
I cant find live at qpr anywere, exept some japanese site..?
Not available in europe\??
ok, thanks.

Hello Danz, nice to see another Dutch Yesfan on this site. I also did not see the QPR DVD in the stores here. Yesterday I saw at a shop on Schiphol airport a DVD Live in Philadelphia (1979). I did not see that one before here in the stores. Most of the time you will find Yes in the House of blues (I even saw it middle priced in the HEMA for a short period) and Yessymphonic. I have Yessongs on VHS and although the quality is not excellent it is really great to see them play, full of young energy.

Best place to get Yes DVD's is on Ebay. Just do a search for "Yes DVD" and you will find a lot of them. As long as you don't go getting into bidding wars you can pick them up for usualy very reasonable prices.
I usualy just put one bid on and wait. If you win fine, if you don't there will be another one coming along shortly, a bit like a council bus lol.
As far as I know these are all the DVD's of YES that are available and I have got them all.
Musikladen 1969/1970 (only 3 songs 20 mins)
Yessongs 1972 (now released under the name of "Live at The Rainbow" as well)
Live at QPR Vol 1 1975
Live at QPR Vol 2 1975
Live in Philadelphia 1979
9012Live 1984 (available only from Brazil)
An Evening of Yes Music Plus (ABWH) 1989 (this one is usualy very expensive!)
In the Big Dream (ABWH) 1989 (Brazil again)
YesYears 1991 (Japan)
Greatest Video Hits 1991 (Japan)
Union Tour Live 1991 (Japan)
Keys to Ascension 1996
live at The House of Blues 1999
Yessymphonic 2001
I wish they would put out a Talk Tour DVD, I do have this on VHS but a DVD would fill a hole in the collection!
Go to www.ebay.com and check it out.
Mike
