Hello everyone. Maybe I'm too emotional for everyone's tastes as far as soft as a dove, sweetness, clear days, every days, mood for a day, on the balcony and others, as well as soft as a dove, but I found another little track that I really like. It's a little part of assention I think from tales from topographic oceans called leaves of green. Kind of reminds me of wonderous stories, which is also nice. What do you all think of leaves of green?

Love it. But I prefer to hear all of any movement of Tales rather than a part of one. Steve likes to play it in his solo shows.
Love it too. A nice contrast to the rest of The Ancient, and I'm surprised Steve didn't play it more often for his Yes solo spots.
I still think they missed a trick by not having some choir Mellotron accompanying the "and I heard a million voices singing" lyric.

No, I kind of admire them for not doing that. No need to telegraph something that is already described nicely (and the harmony vocals there suffice quite nicely.
Same as with the Eagles in Hotel California, when they sing "I heard the mission bell", I'm so glad no one clangs a bell right then.

if you compare all of the moods conveyed in The Ancient alone, you've got a pretty wide sonic palette. Leaves Of Green brings all of the symphonic elements home, just like a warm fire burning away brightly in your cozy log cabin.

I love it. I too think it is better as a whole. Steve does play it on his solo stuff. Jon voice is...

One of the highlights on Tales. Works better when you hear
what goes on before it.
By the way, on the expanded Tales from Rhino, there's an early version where they use the whole band. Interesting, but in the end the band definitely made a good decision by focusing on Steve's wonderful acoustic guitar.:headset:

[Raises hand]
I admit to editing "The Ancient" down to 6:09. The "Leaves of Green" section is a beautiful song, yet I don't have the patience to sit through the first 12 minutes of atonal Steve Howe racket to get to it.
[also admits to editing "Horizon" down to 16:52... nobody would notice the missing 5 minutes, really!]

I don't mind hearing this live but prefer to hear it as part of the whole track of the ancient(giants under the sun).

One of my goals in life nowadays is to smoke a joint with you at a Yes concert.

Which part of "I am Waiting" ended up on the cutting room floor? "It happened in the water...?" and how long was the final result?

After three decades and a half, I still can't get my head around Leaves of Green. I won't turn it off---but it doesn't "grab" me.

But what if it does ? LOL.
Sorry for the offbeat humor, Tasia. This just reminded me of an old Sufi tale where Nasrudin (a.k.a the village fool) was spotted trying to seed a culture in the local lake during a famine. "You'll never turn that lake to yogurt, it won't work" Nasrudin replied "But what if it does"?

No, I like that "it happened in the water", I took out some of the numerous choruses. The final version is 5:49.
Be The One is -by total coincidence- the same length...:headset:

I like it in both contexts, as a standalone song at live shows and within the context of the whole epic.
It was a missed chance to not relase an edit as a single, it would have likely done well as Folk was popular in the UK at the time.

I think leaves of green is beautiful. Wish they would have released a whole studio song not in the epic, but it's very nice all the same.
I heard it for the first time last night at the SeYes gig I went to. I liked it but I think there are better Yessongs.
