Prompted by our fellow avid Drama fan tempusfugitbruce's new avatar I have found one of my few surviving Melody Maker's from way back when. Have a look at the attached thumbnails.

I've included that weeks UK charts too and guess what album was number one ? If you right click the pics and 'save picture as' onto your pc you should then be able to enlarge them to read the full feature.

interesting... I am wondering if, like the record-breaking sellouts at Madison Square Gardens in 1980, this is due to the fact that people didn't know who was in the band at that point... thanks for posting this... cool vintage stuff!

Nice one!

I've got a couple of issues of Sounds from the early 70s - one of them's got a Wakeman article in it and the other's got one about Yes. I'll put them up when I get access to my scanner again.

Wow - thanks for posting!

I used to buy Melody Maker on occasion when I could find it - there was one bookstore here that seemed to carry it . . .

I remember when the new lineup was introduced and I was floored that Jon and Rick were gone. Then I listened to the radio call-in show introducing the new album. The first cut they played was "Run Through the Light" which I immediately hated. Later they played "Tempus Fugit" which I liked better. But I was pretty leery when I purchased Drama. But once I played it, I loved it. I even grew to like RTTL eventually. It was great to MM on tour last year.

Thanks for bringing this to us.

Well, from my vantage point in the 5th row that warm night back in Sept of '80 I didn't hear a disappointed cheer in the house.
