I was looking around on Acoustic Sounds (mainly looking for Rush's Permanent Waves on vinyl), and decided to search to see if they had any Yes. I found 90125 on vinyl - according to the site, it is to be released on March 24, 2009.
From the site:
"Delight in the perfect welcome to the mid-80s with Yes' biggest album to date, 90125. Featuring "Owner Of A Lonely Heart," "Leave It" and "Cinema," plus the return of Tony Kaye at the keys. Original graphics, half-speed mastered from the original ATCO vault tapes at Friday Music Studios by Joe Reagoso (Yes, Deep Purple) and at Capitol Records with Ron McMaster."

Excellent Find! I was wondering when YES West would get a hi-fi treatment. As for the Permanent Waves you were looking for I don't have a vinyl LP yet, but the Mobile Fidelity (MoFi) Gold CD sounds awesome compared to the regular release CD, like night and day IMHO :)

Ah, many people have 'em - and others are buying 'em! LP sales were 1.6 million last year, a 60% increase from the previous year. They're expected to go up even more this year.

(raises hand) I love my vinyl. Actually have three turntables at the moment, so it's time to sell off two of them! :D
I heard somewhat mixed reviews about Friday Music's LP pressing of "Close to the Edge". (as in: Sounds good but if you can find an original it'll be a bit better) Who to believe? We all have to do our own testing and trust our own ears.
I already have a very nice LP of 90125, but am tempted to pick this up if/when I get some spare $$$, ditto with the CTTE re-pressing.
I've got a signed Big Generator LP coming my way soon...hehehehe. Just a shame I have no turntable to play it on, so I will be framing it.

I just picked up the Friday music pressing of CTTE the other day, it was $22 at Amoeba. Now if I could just get around to getting my turntable fixed...

If you are looking for vinyl and other interesting things made from vinyl (like the candy dish I have from a copy of Close to the Edge), go here: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/GOLD-MILLION-RECORDS__W0QQ_armrsZ1
The real store is near me and is a treat. They use ebay to sell stuff. I also picked up the single for "Give and Take" from the Union CD...a B side I "taped" and play on "cassette" in my 98 Camry...please google these words if they sound too starnge to you. I have no stake in the store, but it a one cool place to browse. All kinds of autographed stuff, too.

Vinyl is expensive, true..but it is also relative to where you are in the world....lots of places in the US have second-hand shops with good vinyl for cheap. Of course, a new release is expensive. :D
Vinyl does scratch, which requires more care than CDs. But, CDs can scratch too.... re: record players, at least in the US one can get a good record player for next to nothing at a swap meet, yard sale, classifieds, etc....
For the moment I am happy with both formats.
