Two of yes's most beautiful songs in my oppinion. I can't find midies for these either to play the songs by ear, but I love them. What do you all think?

I really like these songs!
I found a funky anime cartoon on youtube, set to yesterday and today. It's really cute. I'll see if I can find it.

is it one of mine? I used Yesterday and Today (Sweetness as well) for my Looking for the Sunshine episode (as ending piece, when they are all lying in bed). It isn't on youtube anymore, but there you can watch all my World of Yes episodes:

I love these two songs. Wish I knew the chords.

Ewwwww, some of the wimpiest, mushiest crap in the Yes catalog. It's a good thing that these dogs came early in Yes' career and they got this sickly-sweet goo out of their systems. Then, starting with the next album, The Yes Album, they found their real groove.
Next ballad (after the gag-inducing "Clear Days" on TAAW) in chronological order would be "To Be Over", but that one is a much better song.

I sort of agree. There's a line between gentle and mushy and these two cross that line. However, Clear Days in my view is on the good side. But maybe that's because I have a thing about orchestration.
To Be Over is something completely different. Other favourite gentle Yes songs of mine are Madrigal, Onward, Wonderous Stories, and even If Only You Knew.
You could call those ballads, but somehow I don't think of Yes when I think of ballads. It's more an R&B thing for me, or maybe rockballads Bon Jovi style...:headset:

I love both songs as well, and wish I could find the chords. I can play by ear, but sometimes it's hard with some chords.
I really think that that "To Be Over" qualifies as a ballad. Not power ballad à la Bon Jovi, etc.
BTW, did I mention how much I despise "Sweetness" and "Clear Days"? LOL!
I decided to take a look at what Yes themselves had to say about those songs, and found the following:
Peter Banks on "Sweetness": "It was very much Jon's tune. I don't think any of us particularly liked it. It came out as our first single and it's probably the most unrepresentative thing that could have been brought out"
Peter Banks on "Clear Days": Jon wanted to do his "Eleanor Rigby". I don't think we were even consulted about playing on it. I didn't particularly like it".
The guys...should...have...listened...to...Peter...

Well, at least maybe Jon liked the songs and maybe at least one of the members did, or they wouldn't have kept it on the album.

John (DJ Salt) played Sweetness at my wedding reception.
I'd always liked the song, and had requested it, but wasn't sure how it would go over at a wedding. Surprise. It was both lovely and wonderful to dance to. Even non-Yesfans dug it and were dancing. Very romantic.

Although I like both songs, I don't listen to them much because they make me hyperglycemic. :D

I wish I knew the chords to both songs. I found the tab to yesterday and today, but I can't read tab, and I need piano chords.

I'm sorry, I have two songbooks of Yes. One from the 70s, simply called Yessongs and one from the 80s. But the two tracks aren't in it, just the "usual" stuff like Close to the Edge, Roundabout, Owner of a lonely Heart, Siberian Khatru...

Sweetness is fantastic, very spiritual.I put the cd and i like to hear this song one more time... For me,an unforgettable moment of early yes.
In general, the first 2 album are great, masterpieces in their way,i think.

I had a new found respect for "Sweetness" after seeing it used at the close of Vincent Gallo's "Buffalo 66." It works perfectly there and it just goes to show that the feel and meaning of a song can become so much more when used effectively, in this case, to sum up a movie.
Y & T, well, not so much.
My favorites from that era are:
Harold Land
Everydays (Steven Stills)
Something's Coming (WSS)
Dear Father
Looking Around
