Iv got a couple of the live dvds and really enjoyed montreux and tsongas and even keys to ascension (weird effects and all!), but was not so keen on symphonic i think because of the lack of wakeman and beyond that something seemed missing, lacking in energy perhaps.

The 35th Anniversary Directors cut is great! I'd recommend that one. We just watched the House of Yes: House of Blues DVD a few nights ago and I thought it was very much lacking in energy. The 35th Anniversary gives you two shows plus some great mini-interviews with the band members. Good stuff.

I'd agree with the nice selections from the Ladder and I will say that Homeworld was done beautifully.

Not quite the complete concert unfortunately - no CTTE or Hearts - and no Wakeman either, but worth having.

Agree, great DVD but cannot understand why those two songs (that apparently were in the set list for that tour) were left off of the DVD.

I thought the YIND version on the HOB is one of the best. I also enjoyed Igor K's work as it really showcased his unique talent.
Also, when the background curtain drops in Gates on the Symphonic DVD...it is a magic moment...
BTW - at the end of symphonic when the band and orchestra are taking bows, there is another cool moment that can only be best captured if you watch it frame by frame. At one point, Jon is soaking in the audience energy, smiling, and looks down at Janeeee on the front row...as he makes eye/mind contact...his lips (and a slight hand jesture) say..'it's you and me (a short pause) and all of them'...Watch for this, it is a very magical moment...!!!

and Ron you've persuaded me to give symphonic another look, cheers.

Tommy, welcome to the site. The HOB show is pretty much what they played on The Ladder tour. It will be a bit different than the ones you already have now. There are two guitars in the band, with Steve and Billy Sherwood. Igor on keyboards. Chris is great. Jon is a beam of light. It's very good stuff. I need to watch it again myself.:appl[1]: :appl[1]: :appl[1]:

I would highly recommend this DVD...except!
This is my second copy to go bad, so lightning can strike twice!
This was recorded on Halloween 1999 at the Las Vegas HOB!
I will be heading there Feb 21, 2009 to see Yes "In the Present".
I found my copy last night(Jan 13)and made it my avatar!
However it will not read or play in my new dvd player or pc.
The problem with the dvd is it may take years to go bad.
I am sooooo hesitant to buy a 3rd copy.
I have a copy on Vhs and hey it plays fine ;)

The show is great as they play so many songs from the Ladder.
I think it takes about the 4th song,Perpetual Change,before they really start to cook.........
Its all good but Awaken is the highlite.......awesome!
Go get it.......(on vhs)

I just bought it and I've enjoyed very much...It's great to have an "old" classic band play so many tracks from the latest album. Homeworld rules and Igor does a great job !

The House Of Yes DVD is okay, but I found the 5.1 mix horrid. Lots of weirdness coming from the center speaker. In stereo it was decent. But mine has died as well. If I ever get another I will have it burned to DVD R asap.

This DVD will self destruct in 10 seconds

I have never had a problem with mine! A great DVD and as a result of this thread I pulled it of the shelf and gave it a spin the other day. Is this the best 'Perpetual Change' committed to DVD?

I think this was only a problem with the region 1 discs. I've got the region 2 and I'll be playing it later to check it's still ok.

Just finished watching mine and it was fine. Not anamorphic though, which wasn't a problem for me when I first bought it but is very irritating now.

Anyone know if more recent releases are anamorphic, either region 1 or 2?

I originally purchased this DVD at a merchandise table at a Masterworks show I attended. Months later it died.

Luckily the manufacturer was still in business at that time so I composed a letter and sent it off.

I eventually received a new copy and it worked fine. .......... I haven't watched it in years now, wonder if it is still OK......

I do love this DVD and would be extremely disappointed if it crapped out on me yet again.

This intersting to watch, just to see Jon get all bawlzy and call it the House of Yes, which I believe is a movie depicting a woman obsessed with Jackie Kennedy. He acts like he's just joined some badass biker gang that's taking over this place.

I recently ordered this one from Amazon after getting tired of watching Montruex and Tsongas so much. I just hope the DVD works in the land downunder.

To date, the HOB concert is my favorite recording of a Yesshow...and I agree with what Bee posted above: Of all the live versions I've heard of "Awaken," this version IMHO is the best--utterly astounding. During the final vocal passage of the song, Jon literally looks as if he's about to step through the gates of Heaven. THE highlight of the DVD. And I got a big kick of the little jam they did at the end: "Have you heard the news?/YES is at the House of Blues...!"

By the way, I bought a copy of this DVD at the Ladder concert, and my copy had glitches in it as well. What a drag! Later on I got another copy at Best Buy, and so far it seems to be working fine. Time for me to drag it out and give it another spin, though, in light of what I'm hearing here.....

I also have had to replace this one... manufacturing issues aside, the content is fantastic...

Well I just received this one from Amazon and I have to say that I am more pleased with it than I ever expected to be. This one is a real gem.

It's a fantastic CD.

I was at the Hollywood HOB Show, and it was one of my hands-down favorite Yesshows.

It captures a magical time, before there was a Yesfans.com...

And the CD is just like 'being there'.

Sheer Wonderstuff.
~~~~~~
My only complaint: YES played 'Hearts' at the LA show, wish it was on the CD... Alas, oh well, there's the bootlegs!
;)
