Which version of I'm Alive do you prefer, the album version or the single/video version?
I love'em both but I like the single version better. It has so much more energy.

It's almost never even a contest for me - I always prefer the album version of just about anything!
Interesting thread. Both versions have their strengths. My favourite is the single version because of all the different instruments, sounds and layers and the emotional vocals - it is beautiful. I understand that it could be criticised as a bit over-the-top, compared to the simple, gentle album version.
At the end of the day, it is a great song. Very Jon.

I usually prefer album versions, but the single/version seems more complete to me, more thought out. Again, the reverse of what usually happens! ;)

In my opinion there is not much, or not enough Howe present on ABWH.
(which incidentally I've called "The Meeting" by Yes on my iPod)
Therefore any attempt to increase his part is welcomed. So I like the
heavy single version. An other example
of a Howe-boost is the Fist Of Fire remix as it is on that boxed set...
However, or should I say, Howe-ever, the original version is a short
but sweet desert after Quartet's main course is over.
So, I like em equally.

i must admit i prefer the single version
it is on the big dream video and is so much more alive ( no pun intended )
they should have re- released the album with this and others as a bonus track ( also others from- we make believe )

I actually bought the two CD singles off of this album (Japanese imports). Great 6 minute version of Brother Of Mine, Vultures In The City, Fist Of Fire, and the better I'm Alive.
