Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles as the man who played with two of the world’s biggest rock bands firstly with Yes recording the album Relayer and touring extensively with the band between 1974 and 1976. Following this stint with Yes Patrick would go on to join another legendary band the Moody Blues. Patrick stayed with the band between the years 1978 and 1991 touring the world extensively and contributing to a number of successful albums.
Patrick has also been a member of the progressive rock band Mainhorse forming the band with bassist Jean Ristori in 1969 and releasing one self titled album in 1970. Following that his next port of call would be Refugee where he joined forces with two former members of the Nice. This band also released one critically acclaimed self titled album before Patrick left to join Yes.
Patrick Moraz began his solo career in earnest in 1976 with the release of The Story of I. Since then he has released a number of albums covering a number of different musical styles. In 2006 Patrick embarked on re vamp of his back catalogue re mastering and reissuing the entire back catalogue over a period of two years,
Patrick’s latest album is entitled Change of Space and it is his first album for a number of years. Recorded in America over the last two years the album is a return to Patrick’s progressive roots and as such will be highly anticipated by his large and dedicated following. The reissue campaign has renewed interest in the work of this special artist and as such demand for this new album particularly in the progressive genre bodes well.

I pre-ordered it, along with Bruford's One of a Kind and B.L.U.E. Nights, and Rick Wakeman's 1984.

I have a few Kazumi Watanabe albums. The Spice of Life 1 & 2 feature Bruford and Jeff Berlin. His Mobo Club albums are killer too. I can't wait to hear him with (and of course hear) Patrick again. This should be great!

I'll have to warn you, this is not a proper review, so please don't make a decision not to buy it because of my first impressions.

I received the new Moraz album a few weeks ago, and i still haven't listened to it properly. Partly because i've been extremely busy being on a small tour and having a misbehaving nine months old boy at home. But also partly because...it didn't grab me at all at the first few listenings. There seems to be some good moments, but to may ears it sometimes sounds similiar to the albums Carlos Santana made during 80's. (Partly because of Alex Ligertwood's vocals.) Even the sounds are similiar. But i'll have to see if it's a grows on me.

Anyone else heard it yet?

It would be nice to see Patrick become a major player again. Relayer is my favorite YES record.

I believe this was actually recorded some years ago. Gary Davis from the Artist Shop mentioned his doubts about it being a recent recording.

Mark Craney plays drums on the album, but he's been dead for a few years so at least his performance stems from the older days.

Hello Folks,

I have to be honest here...I was SOO looking forward to this CD. I was growing tired of Patrick's piano interpertations. Don't get me wrong, he is a genius on piano, but I sorely missed the crazy Patrick from yesteryear (74-76). I lit up, relaxed and listened to the new CD on Tuesday night. Not quite what I expected. In my opinion, this guys voice sucks. Sounds like a late 80's wanna- be vocal style. The lyrics seem childish and hold no mystery. The instrumentals are beautiful, especially the last 2 pieces (Stellar Rivers / Alien Spaces), but they are considered more "new age" than anything else. I think Patrick (and Rick for that matter) need to avoid the whole vocal thing and just concentrate on instrumentals. Another thought....Patrick appears to be showing off a new keyboard sound which sounds exactly like electric guitar. Sorry Pat...not interested. I would prefer to hear some more "adventurous" sounds from your keyboard collection (which is quite extensive based on the liner notes!) Come on Pat....give it another try! You are truely one of the "pioneers" of electric keyboard sound. We will follow you always. I, for one, will ALWAYS purchase your latest release.....

So, Voiceprint's promo material is wrong, yet again... As far as I can make out, parts of it date from 1989 sessions, but I presume other parts are recent.

There's nothing wrong releasing material that was recorded some time before, but i would have done a new mix. Soundwise some of this music belong to Reagan-era.

I'm glad to have the 1989 sessions released, but yet again disappointed that Voiceprint's marketing material is completely unreliable. Far too many Voiceprint releases are cock-ups in one way or another.
