Hi Everyone,

Just to let you all know, we're still working at putting the finishing touches on our mailing list / website. Support so far has been excellent! A big thanks again goes out to you early subscribers. Please keep helping to spread the word. Your support and enthusiasm is very much appreciated.

Update on Peter's book "Beyond And Before - The Formative Years Of Yes":

From the desk of Billy James:

Gary,

Realistically we are looking at a late August release. This is
normal in the publishing business, very rarely are release dates exact -
too many minor problems erupt at unappropriate times (is there ever a good
time for a minor problem?) At any rate, it will be released and it will be
a must for all YES/Peter Banks/pro-rock fans! Everything should be in full swing soon!!!

Also, please pass on that the book got a mention in the recent Record
Collector mag UK - July 01 - #263, pg.6

Thanks, Billy.

Update on Golden Treasures Publishing Website:

The publisher is still having their website constructed. Target date for completion is in a few weeks. Feel free to bookmark the site:

For those of us who can't wait until the site is up and running, GTP has a EZ Store page with www.amazon.com. Since I have for some unknown reason have a hard time posting a continually working link to that, I suggest going to Psychosync: The FLASH Homepage, where Roger and friends don't seem to have trouble keeping a working link to the page:

http://flash.musicdot.com/

Pre-orders for the book are now being accepted. I'm suggesting to act fast if you would like one of the special editions of the book being offered.

Early Supporters: Besides our subscribers, a big thanks to those who have jumped on the mailing list wagon. Especially in these early stages of the T.O.P.B.M.L.

Honorable Mentions:

Dave Gallant: Webmaster of The Official Asia Website & Moderator of the Asia newsletter Armada found on Yahoo! Groups.

Over time, I have had the pleasure of exchanging E-mails with Dave. On one of these occasions, I mentioned the mailing list that I had just started working on. Already expressing an interest in Peter's book, when replying back, Dave offered to link the mailing list to the Asia site once we were up and running.

Around the same time, Geoff Downes of Asia said some nice comments about Peter in an AOL chat just a couple weeks ago while doing promotion for the recent Asia release Aura. Having that CD, I find it to be a very solid, enjoyable recording. The band after an eight year absence from the road, is out doing shows in support of it now. I was very lucky to attend the concert they did a couple weeks ago here in Houston. Very cool! I had a great time seeing them play, and afterwards had the pleasure of meeting them. As a tribute to that day, I put up a webpage:

Back to Dave, he's just come out with a book on Asia called: The Heat Goes On - The Authorized Asia Biography. My lovely wife ordered that for me. Once I received it, I read it pretty much in one sitting. It's very hard to put down. Dave keeps you interested from the very beginning of the band being formed, up to and including what's going on with them today.

John Young: I know John from his keyboard playing with John Wetton, and the band Qango. An excellent player whose music varies from very plaintiff English stuff through to the bombastic prog and jazz rock area. Doing E-mails back and forth with him, I mentioned Peter's mailing list. John was quick in saying that he would pass this information on to his webmaster so they could offer a link to it. John's currently on tour with The Scorpions.

Mike Clarke: Webmaster for The Oliver Wakeman Web Site.

Peter fans already know that he appeared on the Clive Nolan - Oliver Wakeman CD Jabberwocky. Mike graciously volunteered to put a link for T.O.P.B.M.L. on Oliver's site.

Robert Berry:

Robert had this recently to say about working with Peter on the song Astral Traveler that appeared on the Magna Carta release; Tales From Yesterday:

Good luck with your Peter Banks venture. I really enjoyed doing that track with him. When I turned that song inside out I wasn't sure he would like it but when he got the track he flipped. Then he proceeded to do some very incredible guitar work on it. Very good match.

Michael Bruce, Original member of the Alice Cooper Group, and solo artist:

I have always liked what I heard of Peter's playing over the years. I'm glad to find out that he's still being active. Good luck to him and much success with the mailing list.

Progress: The whole idea is to launch the mailing list pretty close to the release of the book. With that in mind, I'll be still keeping busy helping to pass on information so fans can subscribe. Feel free to help me. Just copy this announcement, and post it / send it to whoever you think would be interested.

Again, the best way to find out / subscribe ( F.Y.I. - it's being done in newsletter format. Not to get confused with a day to day discussion list. Every so often subscribers will be treated to newsletters & announcements involving Peter ) is to go to the website for T.O.P.B.M.L.. That web address is:

http://hometown.aol.com/thegreatstifado/TOPBML.html

Update on T.O.P.B.M.L. Website: We added another page. The site itself is still under construction. Odds are we'll always be tinkering with it, so please bookmark, and check back regularly.

Pleasant Surprises: Almost everyday now, I'm being told about, or noticing other sites that now have links for the mailing list. Totally awesome!

Last But Not Least: Thanks to all who has given of their time and knowledge helping me so far with this. You know who you are.

Till later,

Gary Brown
Coordinator of The Official Peter Banks Mailing List / Website.

from the PB Files: A correction concerning the date of Peter's birthday. According to the websites I've seen that give mention to it, Peter's birthday is largely believed to be on July 7th. Reading this so many times myself, I assumed the information was correct. So much so, that I included it in a post I did about the mailing list on that very day.

A very good friend of Peter's by the name of George Mizer sent me a E-mail after reading the post I did mentioning Peter's birthday. This is what George passed on to me:

I did talk to Peter today, I mentioned the birthday. He told me the story behind that!

Around when he was touring, a YES Box set and Book came out.
When they wanted info on Peter, they couldn't reach him so they called Petes MOM.
She gave them old photos, etc.. When they asked his birthday she mistakenly gave Peters father which was July 7th. So that date became history. And many places have the wrong date.
