Today, I purchased a single in a really cool used record store in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania called Gold Million Records. (No, don't work for them but used to frequent their old store called Plastic Fantastic). They offer all kinds of rarities (all vinyl), stuff made from albums, signed albums, etc. I not only bought a really cool bowl made from a copy of Close to the Edge, but I also bought the Life Me Up single. I did so because the flip side was a song called Give and Take. Had never heard of it before but I just listened and really liked it. :musicb: I could hear Bill and Jon, but wondering who was indeed playing guitar, etc. Union was notorius for having session people on it, which is why Rick took to calling it Onion. How many of heard of this one? It was a little buried treasure, a nice song to hear for the first time years after its release over the Thanksgiving holiday. Enjoy, everyone. :appl[1]:

This was included as a bonus track on the European CD of Union. (In fact, on my copy I could swear it's in mono!)

I have it as bonus track on my copy of Onion
I like it, it's a nice track and the quality seems ok, I don't think it's in mono...my CD was made in Germany, maybe the UK pressing features the track in mono?

Give and Take is on the European version of Union only. Strangely, it's one the best tracks with great twin guitar interplay, sadly not by Steve Howe. (see Jimmy Haun's account of the Union sessions)

Well I checked back the interview, and it seems that Steve is actually featured on this track.

You're quite right Nina, it's not in mono. Just played it through headphones and it's fine.

I downloaded "Give And Take" years ago, and added it to the CD-R I made of the "Union" album. It is a pretty good song, but hardly my favorite on the album.

the harmonics bit sounds like a quote from the GoD intro... an ok track, but like all Union tunes, not many Yes people on it... more of a producer's Frankenstein project...

I think it would be one of the better songs on the album had it made it here in the states. Surprised it didn't make it on. Kind of like "Say Goodbye" off of the Conspiracy CD. One of the best tracks on the CD and yet it was a hidden track.

I am sure Steve must have written part of the guitar tune, because a bit of it can be heard at the end of his 1991 solo track 'Turbulence'.

Yes Ajay, you're right. I remember that version.
