The show rocked. "Wow" kept coming out of my mouth afterwards until I went to bed 3 hours later...

The new guys did great. Oliver is practically the same guy as his dad as far as his stage presence goes, and his playing was great. He obviously studied up on Yessongs, because his solos in Roundabout, Ctte, and especially Starship Trooper were reminiscent of those performances.

Last night was the best Close to the Edge and Starship Troopers that I've heard since the 70's. I was flat knocked out by them. Like Wakeman, Steve went back to the Yessongs concept of the finale. I've been waiting for Wakeman and Howe to do that for 30 years! I never did think much of the revised version they've been playing ever since they came up with it in the late 70's when Wakeman got that guitar keyboard, or whatever it was. This song ROCKED last night.

Both Drama songs were played to perfection. Astral Traveller was great, too.

Warning to those going to future shows: they started at 8pm on the button. Like a dope I was out in the lobby standing in line to get a beer when I heard the show starting, so I missed the opening notes of Siberian Khatru... I won't let that happen on Friday night in A.C.

One last thing... The venue was pretty close to full. I was concerned because people were saying that there were 10th row center seats available on the day of the show. Maybe they hold some back and then release them? I don't know but I was happy about the crowd. (Except for the 4 dopes sitting behind me who didn't stop yacking to each other for the whole first half of the show.)

Here's the only video I took last night. It's Steve's acoustic set. The video picks up for the tail end of Surface Tension, followed by Cactus Boogie, both from his second solo album, The Steve Howe Album

I absolutely love that Steve is mixing up his solo bits from day to day. It probably helps to keep things fresh for him too.

Great to read your thoughts on the show, Vic. The positive reviews coming from people that have gone to the shows are very heartening. That's how I feel from the parts of shows I've heard so far. Very positive.

Thanks for the heads up on the start time. I'll be in my seat by 7:45, that's for sure. Two weeks and counting...

Seconded!

Maybe that spirit will leak over into the rest of the setlist (*cough* Owner, *cough* ISAGP, *cough*... ).

Last nights Reading show was fantastic. Vic mentioned it was the best CTTE and Starship Trooper he had heard for a long time. I agree, and must add that I thought And You And I fit into that category as well. The setlist was the same as most shows, but they cut Heart of the Sunrise and Owner. They had been cuttng those songs th past cuple sows because Alan wasn't feeling well. On top of that I have a friend that works backstage at the Sovereign Center and told me after the show that the venue has a very strict time limit of 11:00pm. Doing those two songs would of definately taken them past that.

Pictures to follow later once I get a chance to review them better.

This was my fourth show of 6 and they just keep getting better and better!! I'm seriously tempted to book a couple of shows in Florida to see them at the end of this leg.

The band are on fire playing songs I've been waiting many years to hear with as much passion as I've ever seen, and as for the singer, all I can say is Ben-WOW!!!
