I talked to a friend of mine on the phone the other day, and said that he had bought & exchanged the Symphonic DVD 4 times now and every one he has gotten has not played right. Has anyone else had this trouble?

No - the only thing I noticed in the documentary was - the girl who was marrying the guy she sold "Ramshackled" to - her mouth was not moving in time with the audio. Weird.

In fact...this dvd has possessed my computer. I'll just be sitting there working, when all of the sudden, it starts up out of nowhere. And then of course I have to watch it for the next 3 hours. This happens all the time. I get nothing done.

the only thing that I noticed was that the menu choice doesn't correspond to what you actually get... it is one off every time.

A common complaint (and my copy is no exception) is that the audio and video freeze for about one second at the 6:50 mark of Starship Trooper. I've learned to live with it.

the layer change on the disc. I have no idea why they put a layer change in the middle of a song?!?!?! At least put it in between songs. Speaking of layer changes, It used to be (when DVDs first came out) that yuo could not see (or hear)the layer change. Then, as the DVDs were being made cheaper and cheaper the audio would cut out and the video would pause as the layer change took place. You would think they could get the two layers to sync up better like when DVDs first came out, but they're cutting costs everywhere. I had my copy of Live at the house of blues DVD actually stop working after 1 1/2 years. It was not due to scratches (there were none). It was because the two layers in the disc actually separated making it impossible for the DVD player to read the disc. DVDs unfortunately are not made with strict quality control standards. I sure wish laserdiscs were still being made.

I have the same volume problem in the first 15 minutes. My son got me the video 3 days before it was release at FYE. When I peeled off the price it said for promotional use only. I guess they had no intention of playing it in the store so they sold it. I don't think the band made any money on that sale.

The layer change is during Starship Trooper because they actually had very little choice. Becasue of the amount of information on the disc (The concert, animation on and off, dts), the disc is full. They had to do it where they did in order to get everything on the disc. The only way to ry to avoid the change where it is was to change the order of the songs, and hope they could arrange it at a place where it didn't interfere with the music.
