I like and respect Bill for his playing and a lot of his viewpoints, but I'm surprised to see that he used the name of a Yes song as the book's title. It seemed to me that he wanted to disassociate himself at least somewhat from Yes.
This doesn't exactly do that!
In any case, I look forward to reading this.

Maybe ," How I Escaped The Court Of The Crimson King ""
would have been a better title.

Same sentiments here - there's only how many Yesmen to whom "Perpetual Change" obviously takes on a specific nuance...
Sure makes me more curious to read the book :D
I really respect Bill's downright honesty - and he's certainly not as rude as some people paint him. (Seems like an angel next to Fripp, and Fripp's not rude either IMO!) They're just people who can't take any criticism of their favourite band...
And I admire his taste, of course. Yes, I like bright yellow tie + drumkit setups!
But as someone who does (or did, anyway) do creative work, I'm really inspired by how he's usually looking to move forward. He knows when to stop, let go and move on. Not always change for the sheer sake of it, but for the sake of learning something new. Changes that enrich. (For the most part anyway; I still think he joined ABWH entirely to fund a bunch of gear and joke around a bit on the side)
Even though people criticize him as being overly technical I feel he got where he is because he truly believes in his music and still keeps a healthy perspective of life, which uh... is a lot harder than it sounds I think.
I got into Yes through Rick, think Jon's the most huggable and Steve the most dignified-looking, but after following Yes for a few months, if there's anyone I truly have utter respect for it's Bill.
(Let's see how much of this changes once I've been into Yes as much as everyone else here has, though)

I pre-ordered my copy today!
Bill is a very good writer. His previous book 'When in Doubt, Roll!' is both insightful and entertaining.
This sounds very interesting. I hope he does some book signings. I love the way Bill describes things. Must confess to being a little surprised that he chose a Yessong as the title for his book, considering how he sees Yes as only a small (but extremely significant) part of his musical career. It did occur to me, however, that this may attract more attention and therefore sell more copies.

Maybe he should have chosen "Model Man" as a title...
