Help! I think I screwed up.....

Hello Folks,

I purchased the Classic Artist DVD last week through Amazon.com/UK. I tried to play on my DVD player. The player keeps rejecting the DVD.

Can I play this DVD in the states?

Sounds like you bought a PAL format disc (used in Europe) rather than a NTSC disc (used in the US). You might be able to find a player that supports both formats, or better yet, a friend with a PC that can rip the DVD and burn a new one in the correct format for you.

Panasonic used to make a nice deck that did them all. PAL, NTSC, MESECAM, SECAM, etc. It was really cool. It had a globe on the front

...or buy an expensive scan converter!

Actually, could it be Blu-Ray or HD-DVD format?

I was afraid of that....Ouch!

I don't want to buy a new converter.
