Headline California! A man, who after being in a minor rear end accident, pulled the offending drivers dog from here lap and threw it into oncoming traffic, which resulted in the poor dogs demise. Was found guilty and sentenced to 3 years in State prison. Now don't get me wrong, I despise a person who could do such a thing. He should be punished severely. But, I think 3 years (he'll do about 18 months with good time) in prison is a bit harsh. There are better ways to punish such a person than the State spending $40,000 incarcerating him. I just don't understand how we can give such a person this kind of sentence when say for example a man who poured gasoline over his son in a hotel bed and lite him on fire causeing seriuos permenant injury and disfiguerment only gets 8 years and ends up spending less than 4 years in prison. What's the deal? I don't understand the way people are sentenced. Somebody caught with 10 pounds of dope gets 6 years in state prison. A man who is convicted of severe child abuse for continually beating his children, breaking a sons arm, and burning his daughters arms with cigarettes, gets 2 years. Shouldn't our court system try to incarcerate people who cause harm to other people as opposed to purely political causes. To me the people that they should concentrate on are the the violent people.

While Jail time should have not happened here, the idiot did need to be held accountable for what he did. Maybe some service time for a Pound or animal shelter.

That's my point here. Maybe a little jail time, like 90 days or so, a sizable fine and lots of community service time. But they really need to save the hard prison time for people that commit crimes that are violent!

I like his sentence. I think it shows the idiots that there are people in this world that wont tolerate them. I mean hey! If you believe in evil, people like this man ARE IT! No one with half a conscience would do that. THis person had no regard for lif in general and is the type that would kill a human being. I agree about tax dollars having to pay for it though, that's not cool. But putting him in an animal shelter for Community Service would be just slapping his wrist.
The best way to make our courts judge with wisdom is to put these idiots that make the judgments on a podium and make them answer our questions: Like think if the supreme court was on National TV and people like us got to ask them:
"Judge Thomas, why do violent child abusers and sexual deviants recieve only 2 or 3 years in prison while some young guy riding his bike with a couple lines worth of cocaine in his pocket gets 6 years?" There are so may questions....
theyd be speechless for sure!
