Most people here probably know what the sound effect is at the beginning of Roundabout, but for those of you that don't, here is the the first 45 seconds of Roundabout played backwards:

Thanks - it seems to be working now.
When I said earlier it didn't work - I was only getting "Page .404, Page not found', so I could even see the website to do any downloading.
Thanks for the heads-up!
OK, next question - why would anyone want to go to the trouble to record this backwards - ditto want to listen to it backwards?

I'm afraid to play Roundabout backwards. Rumor has it that when you do you see Trevor Rabin.

The same reason they put together hour long programs on "The Making of Dark Side of the Moon" or "The Making of Electric Ladyland"....to see/hear different processes in how classic songs/albums are made.
That's pure genius ! Now we know the mystery sounds were created at the beginning....

I think links only stay there for a finite time. Maybe a week?

khalpin,
Care to repost it. You've got my curiosity going.
Wait, I can do this myself with Goldwave. I'll give it a try.

Yes, a piano chord, but only one, played once.

Wow, that was kinda cool! More than hearing the piano chords, it was cool hearing Steve's acoustic backwards!

AAAHHHH!!!! that is so scary!!!
Now I was listening to it and in the same moment, one of my Wakey LPs did fall over. I have no idea how this could happen. All my LPs are layed down on a stack and leaning on my cupboard. My heart is beating...don't do this to me anymore.
Don't worry Nina, I'm sure Wakey heard this a dozen times in the studio, playing this chord a dozen times until it sounded just so. The record thing is odd, though. Which one was it ?

It was the Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
That is a bit spooky. I mean, that is considered by many to be the ultimate Wakeman solo album/project.

I'll say this much... that was frickin' weird! Didn't there used to be an old joke...
"If you play Yes music backwards, all the words make sense?"
