There's an argument, of sorts, going on at a Progressive message board. I have heard that Gates was influenced by the book War & Peace. People have told me this, and even Wikipedia says it's so. However, other people tell me it is NOT about the book, specifically, but about war in general.

Can anyone confirm if the inspiration for this awesome epic is indeed from the book? I appreciate any logical answers.

Thanks!

Actually, the way you word your post, you are right in both cases.

You can be influenced by something without it actually being about that thing.

So War & Peace influenced Jon but it's not about the book and is about War in general.

Same as Close To The Edge is inspired by, but not about Siddhartha Gautama and Tales is inspired by, but not about Vedic scriptures.

Thanks for the info. I am not so fussy about the "real" answer, but I just wanted to clarify it with people on the other board. I appreciate your prompt answers, too! :-)

With the abbreviation spelling GOD, there are even more unanswered questions.
