did any one know that there are 2 versions of the philly 1979 show DVD??? the first one has a commentary in the beginning about the show in philadelphia and the sound is very unclear til it "opens up" in the middle of all good people.....
the second one has no commentary and the sound is restored
i've had both and can say if you find the one in an all plastic sleeve its better than the paper one that clasps shut

That's interesting . . . I'll check this further. I have a VHS boot copy that has some different camera shots than the official DVD version. Even the footage on "Yesyears" is slightly different than the "Philadelphia '79" DVD release. I'd still like to know where the rest of the show's footage ended up!

Can you show me both covers just to check more accurately?
I might have a way to find them.

I have a boot copy that has the commentary in the beginning, the video quality on mine is horrible. I have been thinking about buying the official (I guess) version but I am weighing if it is worth it or not.

i bought this when it came out. mine is the all plastic sleeve, but it has the beginning commentary by Sonny Fox. about a year or 2 later, i started to see it pop up again with a slightly altered sleeve, but never thought anything of it. very interesting. just might hsve to track down a "later" copy...
