I'm listening to this now, and I have to say I really like it. The best song by far is the blockbuster Homeworld (The Ladder). Hearkens back to the classic Yes that we all know and love. New Language is a very dynamic exciting piece, and the rest of the album just tends to put me in a good mood. What are your thoughts on this album? :dj:

Hey welcome to the Yesfans site! Ladder appeals to a wide age-range of fans esp. the younger set. I know my 12 year old loves it LOL.

I was (still am) a long time Yes fan when it came out and I LOVED IT!

"The Ladder" was a solid release. It has energy, the YES elements and some strong songwriting. The tour was also most enjoyable.

I've had The Ladder for a while but I've not actually heard it before literally right now. Hey ... there's just too much to do in life.

I find parts of The Ladder to be less than essential, but the best of it is absolutely stunning. Homeworld and New Languages in particular rate comparably to any prog great's most essential output.

The production quality is great and the songs are wonderful. It contains a couple of standouts that they should be playing on tour.

I just received my cd of The Ladder in the mail (I'm catching up on all my missing Yes albums almost there now). I know what I'm listening to today!

has its moments. Its YES music afterall. I can always find bits of their music that are true YES.
Tour wasn't that great in this fans mind. BUt again, always great to see the band live.

From my first 6 listens I'd have to agree. I also like 9 voices. I think the album has some really good melody on it, but I do miss Rick.

I rank the Ladder as one of their "classics" alongside Fragile, Close To The Edge, Tales, Relayer, Going For The One, Drama and Magnification.

I find it quite varied and its very uplifting.

There never seems to be any concrete criticism of it, just "I don't like it". I think it needs to be listened to more!

It's the first Yes album that I LOVED. It was the new album when I was getting into them.

New Language is the standout track for me. If this was released in 1972 you'd all be going crazy over it.

If only you knew is such a turd. The live version of the messenger rocks!! It seems forced, the lyrics sub par. It is like Tormato with some brilliant songs i.e face to face and I like sherwood's influence. A step up from open your eyes.

I think this album kicks butt.
I've always liked it and in my book its got some great music on it.It was kind of sad though to see the venue with maybe 1500 people there.
I'm not so sure that that tour did real well.

If only you knew is such a turd.

I never liked that either, too poppy and sweet to my taste. But Homerworld, Face to Face, Nine Voices are very good.
