Today I dug out the YesYears CD box set. I have been updating my iPod with Yes music and knew there were a few tracks on there that didn't appear elsewhere.
I worked my way through but when I got to CD 4 to my horror, the case was empty. I have had the CD set since release but have no idea where the disc went.
Does anyone have a spare that they would consider sellling/ trading?
4th CD? i`ve always thought yesyears was a 3 cds set but after you said there were some exculsive tracks maybe i`ll consider buying it. Do you think this set worth it?

there are four CDs, with some rarities spread out among the discs... many of them have since been released on the Rhino remasters: Money, Abilene, Something's Coming, etc.
there are a few that are only on YesYears, though, like I'm Down and Run With The Fox... so it depends on if you have the Rhino remasters, and how much those other tunes mean to you... it was way too much money when I bought it - around $70 - but I am sure you can get it for a lot cheaper now...

I have it as a four-cassette set. Being on chrome hx-pro tape with dolby sr encoding, it's one of the great examples of what prc's were/are capable of. Playing it on my Akai GX head direct drive deck (circa '89), a Sony integrated amplifier and B&W dm110 speakers I can honestly say that I never heard these songs clearer or more dynamic in any format, vinyl or CD.
A very good compilation overall, but let down towards the end by some horrible pop tracks and a synthetic sounding You And I. Heart of The Sunrise from the BG tour still kicks, though.

In 1992 I bought 2 boxes (one in cassette and one on CD) for $8 each when I used to live in Puerto Rico. You know, those "damaged CDs" with a little whole in a corner. They both had this little tiny round whole in a corner but everything else was perfect.
Is it worth it, mainly because of the really nice booklet inside. I'd try to get a really cheap one on eBay. I wouldn't pay more than $30.

I like the YesYears compilation a lot.
It was the best Xmas present my wife ever gave me right back when it was released and we had only just got a CD player. I had no idea about the release and so was totally shocked in the most pleasant way on Xmas morning.
On CD 4 I guess the tracks that you can't find on other Yes releases are Make it Easy, an early version of It can Happen & the Billy Sherwood/Chris Squire track Love Conquers All.
Then there are the BG tour live versions of Changes, AYAI & Heart of the Sunrise. The latter two were disappointing for several reasons - firstly having only this version of AYAI and not the studio version on the compilation annoyed me (a decision compounded a few years back when AYAI was also left off the In a Word: Yes 5 CD set) and then to get two versions of Heart of the Sunrise when another different song would have been better.
The accompanying booklet was a great bonus. Down here in Australia we had been starved of Yes and had really been devoid of information about the various ins and outs of the group. This was a very interesting summary of Yes history particularly with Peter Frame's Yes tree of membership and the interfaces with ELP, Genesis, Asia, King Crimson etc which was truly eye opening to me at the time.

I like the fact that it included "Make It Easy", definitely not a Yes song, more like a Trevor Rabin song played by musicians from Yes. But none the less a great song.
This would be a great song to remake (or re-produce). I always felt the chorus was kind of a turn off.

I got a copy for my birthday - ordered from Amazon for a pretty $70. The live material is great, the rare material is also good. I don't have the first two Yes albums ATM, so this is currently the only way for me to hear early Yes.
I'm missing #3, but I never actually had it. I found the other three for about $4 each about a year ago. They sound really good.

The two of your should split a set to replace your missing discs.
It's here on Amazon, for as low as $11.39 used. The copy I got was used and in excellent condition.

I'd love to, but he hasn't posted in over a year. I may have even sent him a PM back then. Thanks for the link, I really should replace the set.

This is the only thread I could find on yesyears. Oh well...
anyway, I just wanted to say I just played the live "and you and I" from this album. I armed myself with four huge 18" speakers and a tube amp at full volume.A mind blowing... amazing recording.
The version of this tune makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up on end.
Such massive power. It seems to flow across the arena like a huge tidal wave of sound.

I saved up for this set when I was unemployed (I distinctly recall putting some of my dole aside every fortnight so that I could get it). All I had by the band at the time was the ABWH and Fragile albums but I wanted a comprehensive intro to the band and somehow knew that I was going to dig what I heard. So pleased to have bought it as I never regretted it in the slightest - a gamble that truly paid off in spades.
It's a marvellous collection of rare and unreleased stuff, as well as some classic studio cuts. One of my most treasured musical possessions.
