Finally!! we have expected Bill during a lifetime! for the first time, he'll come to my country, Chile...I'll be there...September, 29th;)

For me and many other fans it'll be such an event... we have been long forgotten...poor us latin americans...but our dream will come true now ...we have had Yes' presence twice in Chile. I have met ALL band members, except Bill (and Patrick Moraz, haha)

Does anybody know how he is, personally speaking? I always chase my favorite artists and get, at least, my records signed and a picture with them and try to talk a little bit....

Great drummer! who agrees?:D

Please tell him to come to Australia!!!!

He has just released a new record called Foot loose and fancy free. I highly recomend it. It is a double live album and is just wonderful. He has a great band, you are very lucky and I hope you enjoy the shows.
Great to see you again Margit.
How is that percussionist husband of yours?

Thank you for remembering me and my private drummer..hahaha!!

you'll see..for him, it's a dream come true seeing Bill alive! and as a drummer, a good lesson to learn..

As I told you, I'll try to meet him at his hotel (I always do with my favorite artists)...and I swear, Dale, if I have the chance of talking to him, I'll tell him he MUST go to Australia....look at this ;)

Thanks for posting the announcement, Margit. I hope you'll get to talk to him. I don't know if he's easy to approach. I've read things about him in all Yes books but I don't remember. My mind was focused on Jon, I'm afraid.

And people tend to agree that Bill is very easy to approach and is happy to talk after the show. In New York he sat for about 45 minutes answering questions from fans.
I hope I get to see him one day.

I've just come from Bruford's concert. It was a good concert indeed. We met him at the hotel, but he didn't feel like talking, even giving signs or taking pics.
Oh, don't ask him anything about YES, he doesn't care too much recollecting his past, specially Union Tour.
I'll post some pics of this concert soon.

Well Omar, that's a bit dissapointing...we are having him here next Sunday...I had a lot of expectations but now it seems to me he's not an easy going guy, huh? well....at least, I'm sure we're going to have a couple of hours listening to good musicians...tell me...is there a singer in the Earthworks group? does he play any King Crimson theme? tell me more, tell me more pleeease :crybby:

Thank you so much for your comments,

Um abraco,

Hey Margit, I think Bruford was a little bit tired, the day before the concert he was interviewed by a local radio station (we taped it) then he did gave plenty of autographs to his fans anyway.
Regarding to the setlist non Crimson's songs was played, just three songs from Bruford's Band from 70's plus 4 new songs (terrific) that are supposed to be in their next Cd.
Margit, don't low your expectation, you're gonna attend some of the most professional musicians you've ever seen.
Steve Hamilton, a gifted piano man, Mark Hodgson, on bass, both are very kind and talented, and Tim Garland on Sax who fit amanzingly well in the Band.
Forget my former review, I was half asleep anyway. If you like Jazz you'll enjoy Earthworks, that's for sure.
These guys really seem to love when they play. Worth every penny (poor Brazilian currency).

Oh, sorry, Mr. Bruford??? He is just great!!!!

Um abraço my friend.

Most musicians are no longer interested in what they did in the past, it's over. If you talk about Earthworks he'll more than likely get into it. Hell, the guy's a drummer and they're the nicest people on Earth!!!
Just remember Bill left Yes 30 years ago! He's way beyond it now.
What tunes from the Bruford band are they doing? Please let me know.

Omar Fares

Absolutely Dale!!! His work with Earthworks means a lot more for him than YES did. You should see his face playing, it's a joy upon his face.
Here are the tunes played yesterday:
Seems like a Lifetime Ago (from "Feels Good to Me" CD)
One of a Kind (from "One of a Kind" CD)
Beelzebub (from "Feels Good to Me" CD)

If Yes and Earthworks were in Sydney at the same time I'd gladly see Earthworks.
I am really blown away by the last 3 albums. I wasn't that impressed with the former version of that band but this latest group is superb.

Will I ever get to see this guy play? I listened to him for more than 10 years before I even saw a video!!
I want to go to America so I'll have to time it to co inside with an Earthworks tour.
Thanks for letting me know Omar.

You know what Dale? I'll take this post to Bill..I'm sure he'll be very flattered with your comments (you prefer him rather than Yes..oh..that's too much!!)

Well guys...I'll tell you on Monday..wish me luck!!

What a good concert! We met lots of Yes and King Crimson fans yesterday. The sound was incredible, Bill was excited, the musicians were outstanding and the audience went crazy!
After the show, I went to his hotel together with a small group of fans. We could greet him and have a couple of pictures and records signed. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance of chatting a little bit, he seemed to be very tired (Chile was his last concert, the tour ended here, so I think he gave his best last night).

He's still in Santiago, Chile, today...so I'll make the last effort and see if I can meet him again...:D as soon as I get the pictures, I'll post them

Good luck meeting him.
How long was the show?

Margit
09-30-2002, 10:05 AM
.. It was kind of short for me...I was so taken away by Bill's talent that I did not want the show to end...but...I see a big difference indeed between a rock and a jazz concert....I completely agree with Omar's oppinion.. you should see the new thread posted by a friend whom I met yesterday..the newest fan in the forum, Sonoacustico.

It looks as if the photo was taken at the same time as the photo of Claudio.
Put it on the Show your faces thread.
Thanks for sharing.

Here are some friends of mine, YES followers of course, whose photo I took after we trapped Bruford at the lobby of the hotel. You should've seen his face when he saw us waiting for him, it was 2:00 a.m. Concerts in Brazil start very late, we really love the nightlife.

He really loves what he does. Here is one of some exciting moments he had playing that night. Margit and Claudio would agree with me indeed.

Hi Omar...hahaha, of course I agree! I saw him playing so happily, and especially because Chile was the last concert of his tour. He was having fun like a child!
Omar, take a look at the jacket...the same one he wore in Chile...I bet it is his favourite, hahaha!! ;)

Margit
10-11-2002, 08:58 AM
..It is the same one!! (I cannot believe this poor guy doesn't have enough money to buy another shirt and jacket, hahahahahaha!!!!:D )

One learns to travel light while on tour.

He seems to have a thing for yellow. Have you seen the King Crimson live in Japan video? He has a mad yellow jacket in that.

Omar Fares

Yellow with glasses and still happy!!!

Great Omar. I really like the photo of you and Bill. I still think that Bill is one of the most innovative and talented of the YES band members. His recording Footloose is absolutely incredible. I hope that he comes to Los Angeles. Did he mention any tour dates in the United States?

Peace

Otimo! Omar. Eu realmente como a foto de você e Bill. Eu ainda penso aquela Bill é um do talented bem inovativo do YES (SIM) membros de faixa. Seu registro Livre é absolutamente incrível. Espero que vem a Estados Unidos. Mencionou qualquer show data nos Estados Unidos?

Thanks YYY, that concert was a memorable event indeed. Unfortunately Mr. Bruford wasn't in the mood to speak too much, he seemed to be tired as the concerts here starts late and ends around 11:30p.m., you know, Brazilian nightlife.;)

Catalina's in LA! Great...Thanks
Catalin's is a very small upscale Jazz Lounge/Supper Club. That's going to be a perfect venue.
