All 5 tracks are very closely spaced on the like-meter! I keep going back and forth between GFTO and CTTE as my favorite Yes albums. Kudos to the earlier poster who commented that this album has a heavenly/ethereal sound - you nailed it! Amazing that this was from 1977, the sound is just amazing. Some of my favorite work from Rick!

Funny thing is I can remember my first exposure to this album was via the Classic Yes compilation from the early 80s. At the time I hated Wondrous Stories! Now I just love it to pieces, such a beautiful little song!

for me GFTO is one of 3 perfect Yes albums

and I love all 5 tracks on the album... In those 5 songs they hit everything I love about their sound..

Awaken would be #1
the other 4 are tied for #2

Awaken has to be number one for me, although I prefer the Keys and Montreux live versions.
Turn of the Century second because of the acoustic delicacy, lovely lyrics and tune and swirling, uplifting, magical 'electric' instrumental section in the middle.
GFTO slightly above Parallels because of that wonderful steel guitar playing from Mr. Steve Howe.
Whilst one can't ignore the success and mainstream popularilty of 'Wonderous Stories', I find it's not quite got as much as the other tracks on the album, but it is a beautiful tune (as is 'Time Is Time' for that matter).

I will say that out of the truly great Yes albums, this probably has the most musical variety... doing some shorter songs, which allowed room for more songs, probably contributed to that...

5.Going for the One (When I first heard this, I thought the vocals sounded like the Jackson 5, and I still can't shake that thought. I love Jon's voice. I hate the Jackson 5. But there are similarities between the beginning melody line of Going for the One and some Jackson 5 song I wish I didn't know.)
