I found it interesting.

I wonder what the extended Cinema, "Time", sounds like. He described it as being "obscure", which makes me salivate! Do they have another masterpiece hidden in the vaults? Now, that would have made the "In a Word" box set really interesting.

I guess he wasn't that impressed with the Symphonic tour... a bit of a lukewarm answer.

He leaves the door open for future collaborations.... He also seems really interested in working with Wakeup.

Can't we all get along?

Would it not be great if they were all able to play in the same sand box? Imagine if we really did have both Steve and Trevor.

I can't get it, and I haven't heard a word from him in about 3-4 years. The questions are good ones.

I've made it no secret that I've always wanted him back. The abuse he's taken from Yes fans over the years has been amazing. I'll just never get it, I guess.

Rabin brought the Yes band great success and is a brilliant singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist/producer/engineer...The guy is super taleneted and Yes made some of their greatest music with him...Jack.

Would be cool to have a recording of the full Cinema song. I wonder how much stuff is out there among the band of stuff from makings of various albums through the years.

If anyone here plays guitar...especially lead guitar, maybe you can relate to the Trevor/Steve dilemma. I am a lead/rhythm guitarist in a funk fusion band...but my roots go back to Yes (among others). I was in a rock band once with another lead guitarist. He was rather standoffish...and wanted to do most of the leadwork in his style...throwing me little tidbits from time to time (as I saw it). I was in the band and it was established when he joined up with us (having played in a prior band with our drummer/bassist). Well...we could never quite get along on anything...always bickering at each other about who was going to do what part, and telling each other to lay back more when we took a solo. Petty? Yes... Jealousy involved? Yes...
Immature? Most assuredly... The band finally split because of that (plus a couple of other incompatible musician ego problems). Did Trevor and Steve have the same problem? Oh YES!!!!! We all know this, so we should not be surprised if these two NEVER work together again. In my experience, roles of players joining a band need to be stated firmly at the outset, or there's gonna be trouble for sure...especially when the turf is shared. In Yes case...
Trevor was the young gun and Steve the wise roost ruling elder. I'm sure it was like putting two cats in a bag, and hoping for a good outcome. To be honest, I've heard bad stuff about the personality of both players. So, instead of coffee and cream, it was plutonium and uranium. Good music can come from such a 'Union'...but only for a few nanoseconds.
Steve

....me? I love 'em both about the same. They both rule...and more's the pity.

That, my friend, is a great post.

Thanks Jack...
I went through an earlier period in the early 90's when I was head over heels about Trevor. I thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Then, I saw the Yes video for the 'Union' concert down in Florida...you remember that one? When I saw the two of them together...I'm telling you the tension cut right through the TV screen!!! It was palpable and breathing fire!
They were just so different in their playing styles...and Trevor seemed to be engaged in a little one upsmanship with his effortless riffage. Steve came off looking a little bad to me. Then I remembered who he was! That's when I sort of got the dynamic between them...and it wasnt good. And, of course, Chris didnt help when he was eating out of Trevor's hand! That much was obvious...I think Trevor got along with Chris and Rick very well. I think he matched swords mightily with Jon and Steve.
That's the way the politics shook out in my opinion.
Oh well...c'est la vie musique et c'est la guerre!
Steve

Apart from confirming that there was an extended version of Cinema, I think he basically avoided saying anything at all. If I were the interviewer I would have been fairly frustrated by his replies.

Was "Time" recorded in any way, shape or form? Someone HAS to have recorded a 20 min. epic from a band in an embryonic stage. Right?:yesbird: :yesbird: :yesbird:
