In the local paper, Star Tribune, a writer does a humor column where he prints snipets from reader's letters. This ran in today's paper...

No room for today's planned Parade of Worthless
Consumer Electronics Wars 2002, so let's return to
execrable lyrics. From Bill:

"One of my favorite songs from the 1970s was Yes'
'Roundabout.' However, after all these years I still have no
idea what they're talking about. Here are the lyrics,
according to a Web site I just looked up:

I'll be the roundabout / The words will make you out 'n'
out / And change the day your waaaaaay / Call it
morning driving thru the sound and in and out the
valleeeeey "

To those unfamiliar with Yes' singer, imagine a hamster
that has been dipped in helium and squeezed between the
thighs of a pro wrestler. Bill continues:

"The rumor at the time was that these were
computer-generated lyrics scientifically designed to match
the musical notes and please the ear, but never intended to
mean anything. Whaddayu think?"

Let's not forget my favorite line in the song: In and around
the lake / Mountains come out of the sky and they stand
there. As opposed to what, doing jumping jacks?
Computers of the era couldn't write such stupid lyrics; it
took reefer-addled Englishmen bouncing in the back of a
tour bus. We shan't see their likes again, friends. And if we
do: mail 'em some trees. If you know what I mean.

Hmmmm.....this boy needs a talkin to I think!

Peace,
Veronica
