As many of you know, our husky Balto had lymphoma. He was just diagnosed a couple weeks ago. Today he awoke in a lot of pain, whining and crying unbearably. We stayed by him and comforted him all morning, then had him put to sleep this afternoon.

I'm already past the crying stage; playing with my cats and talking with others has helped a lot. But no one, even the vet, thought Balto would go this soon. At least now he won't have to endure the pain of cancer any longer.

He was just 3 months short of 11 years old.

Oh Andrea, I'm so sorry to hear this. I know that Balto was much loved by you and your family and he had a good life until recently.

He's at the Rainbow Bridge now.

:crybby: Oh, no! Andrea, I'm so, so sorry...I know Matt will be very sad about this, too...but Balto isn't hurting any more, and that's the most important thing. He knew you and the family adored him, and that you were with him at the last, and that comfort surely eased his passing.

Now promise you'll spin some FOOW or Tales or whatever soothes your soul the most.

Andrea I'm so sorry. I know how hard this is for you. It's so sad when you lose a wonderful pet. My heart goes out to you and your family at this time.

He's no longer suffering and is happy now and at the Rainbow Bridge.

He will live on - in you.

You know how much he loved you.

Tap into the ageless bliss of knowing
Lower your expectations
And prepare to be blown away

I love you guys, your kindness helps so much... :hearts:

The slow part of Endless Dream keeps running through my mind:

"For they talk too loud
And take the hope and peace from your heart
We call this surrender..."

I guess sometimes you have to surrender, to make things better for those involved.

Andrea, healing thoughts and good vibrations to you.
Remember that life is and always will be,
Death is the opposite of birth, life IS.
May your life be filled with nothing but great love and memories of Balto.

Losing a pet is losing a family member.

My next door neighbor, Tommy, lost his dog last night. He was at a dog-friendly party with his two dogs. They'd been there for hours, big fenced estate way far from the road, but some idiot let ALL of the gates open. His two dogs ran onto a busy street, and both got hit. One made it, Bowser didn't.

I'm gonna miss the little guy, and Tommy's completely broken up. So I totally know what you're going through, it's terrible.

I know I only have a couple of years left with my Blitz, and I can't bear to think about it.

I'm so sorry about Balto. What a shock to have it happen so fast, but it was obviously time, and you did the right thing.

It's so hard to lose our furfriends. They are so much a part of our lives - I think they give our homes their soul. Balto's soul lives on in your heart and all those who loved him.

It's now five days since Balto's been gone. Twice in that time I've played this Rush song, and I think it really conveys what we're going through.

Resist

I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to co-exist
With anything but pain

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain

I can learn to resist
Anything but frustration
I can learn to persist
With anything but aiming low

I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I don't know

You can surrender
Without a prayer
But never really pray
Pray without surrender

You can fight
Fight without ever winning
But never ever win
Win without a fight

I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to co-exist
With anything but pain

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain
